Too bad Bernard King didn't play with Ewing. Now that would have been something...

Thatís the type of consistent perimeter threat he needed.

You can thank Dave Checketts for thinking, Bernard King was done for. The Knicks let him go as a UFA. What's interesting, pretty sure the Knicks would have had all the leverage to sign him to a steal of a contract because he was rehabbing from it.

He went on to pump out x3 20+ ppg seasons including 1990-91 season where he averaged 28.4 ppg, 3rd in the NBA. Patrick Ewing was 6th. Imagine if King and Pat played together in 1990-91.

Speaking of Ewing, he tested positive for COVID. Wanna bet Oakley will say Pat's COVID prevented the Knicks from winning a title?

Prayers to the Big Fella! Patrick was the biggest reason I became a diehard Knicks fan! I worship and adore this man!

This is false. Dave Checketts was with the Utah Jazz when the Knicks let Bernard King go as UFA in 86. Part of King's demise with the Knicks was that he rehabbed his knee on his own without being in touch with the team as much as management wanted.

Management had **** for brains truly. Those first couple years were critical in drafting future Hall of Famers to compliment Ewing. Kenny Walker in 86, and trading both 87 lottery picks away to fill roster gaps in a draft with Pippen, Reggie Miller on the board...Sure they drafted jackson who won ROTY but imagine Pip and Ewing running a pick n roll for a decade.

On second thought, pretty sure they wouldve picked scrubs in 87 so keeping the picks wouldve been futile. If ewing was smart, he shouldve gone to Chicago during his arbitration time instead of playing out his best years for such an inept management.

Yeah. Basically the Knicks were a team of power forwards around Pat, ONE point guard and a shooting guard in Starks. Rolando Blackman was done by the time he got to the Knicks. Greg Anthony couldn't dribble with his off-hand. Still love that team.
