You must be new to the blame game. If it works it's because the QB is great. If it doesn't it's because the coach sucks.

I saw some conversation on OLine play and holding the ball, and I was curious on something so I started to look into average sack depth (because you can actually learn from this)

    Dak:
    2019 - 23 sacks, 151 yards, 6.6 avg loss, 2.88 TT
    2018 - 56 sacks, 347 yards, 6.2 avg loss, 2.82 TT
    2017 - 32 sacks, 185 yards, 5.8 avg loss, 2.82 TT
    2016 - 25 sacks, 143 yards, 5.7 avg loss, 2.88 TT
    Career - 136 sacks, 826 yards, 6.1 avg loss, 2.85 TT

    Wentz:
    2019 - 37 sacks, 230 yards, 6.2 avg loss, 2.71 TT
    2018 - 31 sacks, 202 yards, 6.5 avg loss, 2.66 TT
    2017 - 28 sacks, 162 yards, 5.8 avg loss, 2.72 TT
    2016 - 33 sacks, 213 yards, 6.4 avg loss, 2.65 TT
    Career - 129 sacks, 807 yards, 6.2 avg loss, 2.69 TT

    TT - Time to throw.

Now alone those numbers aren't all that interesting. But here's where, IMO things get interesting with that:
DAL - Total: 38% under center, 62% shotgun; Passing: 29% under center, 78% shotgun
PHI - Total: 27% under center, 73% shotgun; Passing: 34% under center, 71% shotgun

Dallas average drop depth: 6.4 yards
Philadelphia average drop depth: 7.2 yards

Now combine all of that and I find it interesting that it seems to suggest that Dak doesn't trust his OL as much as Wentz trusts his. And why do I say that? Over time Dak has been drifting away from the LOS and his drop depth on his average sack. I means he's not climbing the pocket and stepping into throws. Wentz has actually stayed pretty even in that regards. And it's typically ahead of where his average drop stops, so there's a higher trust factor in the line that he can climb the pocket and step into a throw.

The other interesting one on the formation: With the Eagles, there's no guarantee that shotgun formation means that it's one play or another. If you take out QB Draw and Dak just running, about 80% of the time when you see Dallas in a shotgun formation (now maybe this changes with MM in charge over Garrett) the defense could assume it was a pass play and be in better position to make Dak's life a living hell.

Exactly! That's what I said originally lol. It's more of the QB's below them not doing enough to unseat them rather than them doing anything

    Are you talking about Mariota?

Rodgers hasn't been the problem in Green Bay. Look at 2018 for example. Rodgers threw for 4,500 yards, 25 TD's, and only 2 picks. I bet almost everyone here would assume their favorite team is a playoff team if their QB puts up a stat line like that... But the Packers only won 6 games.

Last year Rodgers threw for over 4,000 yards, 26 TD's, and 4 picks and his team went 13-3. That was with a new offense, and a new coach.

Who has done enough to jump him in the rankings?
Looks like 2014 was his last elite season (MVP level). You havenít noticed a decline in his play since then?

This boy done lost his marbles.
His agent told the Cowboys if they want a 5th year on the deal they are going to have to add $42M to the deal. The Cowboys have offered $35M a year for 5 years. Increasing that 5th year from $35M to $42M averages out to $37M a season for 5 years. The Cowboys seem to be dead set against going above $35M a season. Dak has until July 15 to make a decision. Agree to the deal on the table or sign the franchise tag. Or he can always refuse to sign and sit the whole season out. I still say that if he ends up playing under the franchise tag he will not be a member of the Cowboys in 2021.

Bad play calling killed a ton of drives over the last 10 seasons.

2015 was when he won MVP... I've noticed a decline in play, but not enough to take him out of the top 5 because he's playing at or above the level of those below him still.
