Teams are built in the trenches. Don't sweat the skill positions in a year like this.

It's a new decade and a new era. Lets build this team the right way. Looking for the big guys, the dirty guys, the guys in the trenches to build a strong foundation.

If we stay at #23 a guy like AJ Epenesa would be a great start. Trey Flowers type guy who's technically sound, heavy handed and intelligent. Not an athletic freak by any means but a perfect fit in this defense. If we make a pick tonight I hope it's this guy.

Xavier McKinney and AJ Epensa I think are awesome fits for us. I think they fit perfectly in Pat Chung/Trey Flowers roles.

Ross Blacklock, Zack Baun and Yetur Gross-Matos are all interesting fits on defense too. A little bit off from a size/playing style to what we normally go for buy sometimes you have to embrace change to accommodate talent.

I think Denzel Mims could really be a great piece here at WR. Him and Harry could grow with a young QB together.

Cole Kmet is probably a reach but fills the TE void.

Ezra Cleveland could be the long-term answer at RT after Cannon, or maybe at LT if Wynn kicks inside to replace Thuney either through trade or FA next year.

If we're looking at trade backs again the following would match up trade chart value wise...

    #37 and #100 to BAL for #55 and #60
    #37 and #139 to DEN for #46 and #95
    #37 and #172 to LAR for #52 and #84
    #37 and #125 to DAL for #51 and #82

In conjunction with my last post about moving back again...

    https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/pat...qb-jalen-hurts

I'll just throw that out there. IF he really is the QB they want, #23 would be too high But we wouldn't have had the ammo to move up from the lates 3rd to get him in round 2. Even #37 Is probably higher than we need to take Hurts but another trade back and it would make sense. This all assuming of course that he is the guy they like.

A lot of people talk about our QB position. I wonder if BB might possible try to stock up on picks NEXT year, so he's in position to move up for a guy he really likes HIGH in the draft.

Trade #37 to DEN for #46 and #95.
    Trade #46 to NO for #88 and a 2021 2nd rounder
    Trade #71 to some team for a 4th rounder and a 2021 2nd rounder
Trade the 4th rounder from the above trade for a 2021 3rd rounder

Even after all those trades into next year, we'd still have #87, #88, #95, #98, #100, #125 and #139 as picks in the 3rd and 4th rounds. Obviously those are later than people would like. But it's supposed to be a very deep class so you can build some young cheap roster depth.

Looking ahead to next year we'd have:

    Our own 1st rounder
    Our own 2nd rounder
NO's second rounder from trade above
Another team's second rounder from trade above
    Our own 3rd rounder
Another team's 3rd rounder from trade above
    Compensatory 3rd rounder (Tom Brady)
    Our own 4th rounder
Compensatory 4th rounder (Kyle Van Noy)
    Compensatory 4th rounder (Jamie Collins)

We also project to have over $50M of cap space even factoring in anticipated roster moves between now and then.

I expect a positional player (or 2) from last years 53 to be traded in the next 48 hours. Just crunching the roster numbers it seems like an inevitability.

QB (3) - Stidham, Hoyer, and I expect a rookie.
RB (4) - White, Michel, Harris, Bolden
FB (2) - Develin, Vitale - I like the 2 FB look, but if we only keep 1 that means we keep 5 RB
WR (5) - Edelman, Sanu, Harry, Byrd, Meyers - Gunner is a tough cut right now
    TE (2) - LaCosse, Izzo - I expect we'll draft a rookie who will displace 1 of these 2
OL (9) - Cannon, Mason, Andrews, Thuney, Wynn plus 4 backups. I assume a rookie or 2 in the mix.

DT (5) - Guy, Allen, Butler, Cowert, Wise
Edge (5) - Hightower, Simon, Calhoun, Winovich, plus a rookie
LB (3) - Bentley, plus a couple rookies
CB (5) - Gilmore, McCourty, Jones, Williams, Jackson
S (5) - McCourty, Chung, Phillips, Brooks, Davis

ST (6) - Slater, Bethel, King, Allen, Cardona plus a Kicker

That's 54 players - one is going to get axed. Likely traded in the next 48 hours

I'm pretty much guaranteeing he's cut barring a TC injury. Without an assist from injury, he's not making it out of camp. With his history he probably gets hurt himself. Can't pay him $4m. Saves $3m to cut him
