Naive? No. Misguided? No. If we want inclusiveness and tolerance, that means everyone. Even those who are practitioners of non inclusiveness and intolerant.
Practice what you preach, is my message to the Dems. You think people are wrong or have a poor assessment? Fine. That doesn't make them ignorant or stupid.

The right demonized Pelosi long ago, AOC is their latest victim. She is an easy target. Young, female, Latino and a socialist! Imo they are scared to death of what she represents. She appeals to the young free minded. Imo the R's see the handwriting on the wall and are scared **** their Ivory tower is crumbling.

My point the D's are not allowed to play by the same rules for all the reasons you mention in original post. When they get in the gutter with Trump they are vilified, when they try to stay above the fray they are accused of lacking any balls and determination and being idealistic hypocrites. Can't win. Case in point: "But to ignore that the far left is doing that when they also stake their foundation. on inclusiveness, tolerance and acceptance? " and "If the Dems want to usher in a new era of kindness and inclusiveness, act like it."

Well....I must commend the company you keep. They are civil, reasonable people. Down here in Southern Jersey, the Biden bashing is ubiquitously doled out. There is an inherent assumption "all" support the orange guy, not the old, archaic, senile fool. (exact words heard at breakfast this weekend) Many swallow the Trump narrative whole.

I agree the discourse has been dragged down by Trump's rhetoric. Again damned if you do damned if you don't. Should the D's bring a knife to a gun fight?

Finally, I agree the D's are divided. They have always been a party of inclusion rather than exclusion. I prefer a party that accepts rather than rejects.
Pelosi is a hypocrite of the highest level.

Doc, no. Do't bring a knife to a gun fight. Bring a bazooka and a 90 mm gun. If you show up locked and loaded with confidence and the compassion you preach as a party, many will stand down.
There's a sports saying we often use that applies perfectly to the Ds. Act like you've been there before.
The Rs have never really been there. There is no reason to expect that the McConnels of the world will act like humans. That doesn't mean the Ds shouldn't.

    It doesn't mean we shouldn't

I never said ignorant or stupid. You want to be noble, and follow the golden rule. Yet, some people with bad intentions count on you playing fair. While they clean your clock. My grandfather a combat veteran in WW One, married a German immigrant to the US, after killing German soldiers. My father who was a combat veteran and who killed many Vietnamese soldiers became a social worker and preacher made sure to preach about the nobility of forgiveness and peace, and mercy. I fully appreciate the desire and honor of being kind to those who may disagree with you. But it’s not just to not call a person who is wrong, not wrong to not hurt their feeling either.

Something about "locked and loaded with a bazooka" and "compassion" doesn't gel together well.

McConnel said we shouldn't then. So we shouldn't now.
But you missed my point. There are no rules. And it is Trump’s obligation as President to nominate an appointee.

"Hey guys, I really want to all work together. I think we can. I know we might see things differently but at the end of the day, we are all on the same team. We all want the best for our country. I respect what you say and think. I truly do. I will try to work with you where we have differences to make things smooth.
I hope you will at least try.
If you really don't want to try, I will have to do something that will make me feel sad. I don't want to hurt you.
Please don't make me use this ****ing bazooka to blow you to smithereens. Because I will"

He is right. So there you have it. But the Dems have to follow the rules ? Now it’s time for the Dems to follow suit. They have been pushed to it, let them impeach him again to slow his roll if they have to. It has to go nuclear and this is the result of the Republicans, but it must be done. If MCconell won’t back down he has to be knocked down.

McConell Forced the Dems to wait. He wouldn't allow it. He said it was wrong. Now it's ok.

Preexisting conditions Mush. People will lose all they've worked for to get treatments.

Consider this. There will be nothing to stop an insurance company from saying, you have high blood pressure. You have to adhere to our rules and your rate is going to be 30% higher. If something happens and we found out you ate French fries which are restricted, you will pay.

That is real. Allowing these companies to refuse people on preexisting conditions will also enslave people to one company. If you had a job, got. sick, then recovered and decided you'd like a different job and had a great offer but the insurance was different and they wouldn't insure you because of your preexisting condition, do you stay at a job you don't like or lose your insurance to take a job you like?

This doesn't even get into people who pay for their own.

I would like to see McConnel and Pence mud wrestle and the winner has to enter the loser.
(My guess is they'd pretend to hate it but they would love it)

They both have sold their souls to not Jesus. They both have long ago abandoned anything as normal as sex for pleasure. Their pleasure is to disguise their cruelty in a mask of virtue.

In a nutshell and I agree:

    Robert Reich
    @RBReich
A 6th GOP justice, nominated by an impeached president who lost the popular vote by 3M, confirmed by GOP senators representing 15M fewer Americans than their Democratic colleagues, after Obama's pick couldn't even get a vote.

When I say the system is rigged, this is what I mean.
