Not only "no big deal" but also in keeping with the Trump narrative:

a hoax perpetrated by the left.

    Will magically disappear.

It would weaken “when we get into April, in the warmer weather—that has a very negative effect on that, and that type of a virus.”

If the economic shutdown continues, deaths by suicide “definitely would be in far greater numbers than the numbers that we’re talking about” for COVID-19 deaths. (185K and counting.)

As cases skyrocketed across the country, he proclaimed Coronavirus numbers are looking MUCH better, going down almost everywhere, and cases are “coming way down.”

The pandemic is “fading away. It’s going to fade away.”

The pandemic is “getting under control.”

The list is longer, mush longer, but I think you get the gist.

Not as big of a deal that they made it, but I'm sure you think we should lock down for any possibility of fatality from infection

That's a lie, he never said it was a hoax. But that's what you folks that have deep hatred for the President do, you make stuff up. Your consolation is that you aren't alone.

Based on the data at the time.

If the economic shutdown continues, deaths by suicide “definitely would be in far greater numbers than the numbers that we’re talking about” for COVID-19 deaths. (185K and counting.)
The ancillary deths the lockdown is causing is at record pace besides the inflation of COVID-19 deaths.

As cases skyrocketed across the country, he proclaimed Coronavirus numbers are looking MUCH better, going down almost everywhere, and cases are “coming way down.”
It was dropping tremendously int he North while the South was getting their first wave. Deaths kept dropping too and no, the incrase for the South was way less than the outbreak of the North. Plus the SOuth had much better testing as we learned so much to that point including better and increased testing.

The pandemic is “fading away. It’s going to fade away.”
    Pandemic yes, virus no.

The pandemic is “getting under control.”
It has. You have more kids dying from Flu than COVID-19. It's still important it's just not a pandemic anymore.

1st bolded - During a Feb. 28, 2020, campaign rally in South Carolina, President Donald Trump likened the Democrats' criticism of his administration's response to the new coronavirus outbreak to their efforts to impeach him, saying "this is their new hoax." During the speech he also seemed to downplay the severity of the outbreak, comparing it to the common flu. 185K deaths and counting. How can you continue to defend his response to this crisis?

    2nd bolded -
The outbreak would be temporary: “It’s going to disappear. One day it’s like a miracle—it will disappear.”

Yes, the media and their spin was the new hoax, not the virus.

As for the second, why not post it in context? Where it's under maybe it could happen and warned it's going to get worse.

Plenty to pick on the President without strawmanning.

Trump never said it was a hoax. But I don't recall him ever telling those calling it a hoax, that the threat was real. So he didn't start that idea but he certainly allowed it to grow.

He did not say it would magically go away. He said it will "just go away". Which is not a lie. But it is also a cop out and a weak stance in very beginning of a pandemic. Also, we don 't actually know if it will just go away. We don't even know yet if our resistance is permanent. There are reports of people getting it a second time. That may not bode well for long term vaccines.
(Which will not be available to the public in October. That is a pure campaign ploy. I am sure that when it doesn't come out, he will have a perfect alibi and person/people to blame)

The data did not suggest that. There were hopeful comparisons that considered a possibility that this virus would loose strength in the warm weather. Even as Brazil was getting slammed, that narrative continued.

It was dropping in the north because of the lockdown and social distancing practices.
The outbreak in the south was less than in the north? I presume you mean in April-May? Because the south, has been getting hammered.
The top 5 states are Ca, Texas, Fl, NY, Ga. Texas, Fl and Ga are the highest per capita rate.
Texas, Fl, Ca all have over 200k more cases than NY. Ny has the largest death toll by far, largely because of poor handling on all levels of government, the population density, speed at which it hit, and the lack of knowledge in how to treat the virus.

That's nice, the inflation of deaths. There are equally as many reports of suppression of those numbers, so I think it's a wash. How many lives did the lockdowns save?

You continue to base arguments around what it does to kids. What about their parents, grand parents, teachers?
It is seriously, myopic argument. Kids are fine. Great!! But they carry it.
If you or your wife had diabetes or severe asthma or heart disease, how happy would you be that your kid was in school?
You may be one of those who would take the risk as a patriot. That's fine. I wouldn't argue. I would disagree.

    The List is much longer.
We lead the world in testing, Shoot disinfectant into you veins, I don't need to wear a mask and testing will make the numbers go up, I will tell everyone to do what they want but every person around me is tested on a daily basis, so I know what to do to stay healthy...

Thankfully, it is not as deadly as it could have been. Thankfully things have somewhat returned to a new norm.
But that data to which you referred also suggested second and third waves. We will see. I hope it does just go away. But I am not going to act like it can't kill me and I am going to protect myself and those around me. It's kind of sad, so many can't simply do that.

Some peeps are more worried about protecting Donnie boi's reputation than protecting their fellow men, women, and children.

As much as it might seem, he can't respond to everyone. He did say it's real and could get worse. Even CNN posted that.

So he didn't start that idea but he certainly allowed it to grow.
I'm not seeing the harm in allowing the lefty media to hang themselves.

There are reports of people getting it a second time. That may not bode well for long term vaccines.
Oh I agree. We still need to find out if it is true that after you fully recover if you can get it again and how soon could one get it again.

(Which will not be available to the public in October. That is a pure campaign ploy. I am sure that when it doesn't come out, he will have a perfect alibi and person/people to blame)
The only ones that really believe October are those that think this is all a trick by the President.

The data did not suggest that. There were hopeful comparisons that considered a possibility that this virus would loose strength in the warm weather. Even as Brazil was getting slammed, that narrative continued.
Given the low outbreak int he South, yes the data did suggest that.

It was dropping in the north because of the lockdown and social distancing practices.
The outbreak in the south was less than in the north? I presume you mean in April-May? Because the south, has been getting hammered.

    Lower death rate.

That's nice, the inflation of deaths. There are equally as many reports of suppression of those numbers, so I think it's a wash. How many lives did the lockdowns save?
Given the money they get, I am not thinking there are many if at all any that do not get a COVID test done at the "time of death" Now add in all those deaths that are happening because of the lockdown and fear that has been stated ad naseum and yeah, COVID is killing folks, it's just not the disease.

I am high risk and my kids needs to be in school. Research suggests that kids aren't great carriers. Like the flu, if you are at risk, take precautions.

The List is much longer. We lead the world in testing,
    What's not right on that?

    Shoot disinfectant into you veins,
Never said without it being a 100% total joke.

    I don't need to wear a mask
He may not have, however, I agree to this point that the optics are awful.

and testing will make the numbers go up,
    Completely true

I will tell everyone to do what they want but every person around me is tested on a daily basis, so I know what to do to stay healthy...
Like I said, bad optics for sure.

Thankfully, it is not as deadly as it could have been. Thankfully things have somewhat returned to a new norm.
Yep, projected 2+ million deaths to at most 200,00ish.

But that data to which you referred also suggested second and third waves. We will see. I hope it does just go away. But I am not going to act like it can't kill me and I am going to protect myself and those around me. It's kind of sad, so many can't simply do that.
Do the basics but let's not go overboard. We don't with other things that are deadly why this?

200,000 at most? We'll surpass that in 2-4 weeks and continue rising in to next year.

Even more brilliant: the fear of COVID-19 is killing more people than COVID-19 itself.

That genuinely was a funny come back, bravo. That was funny. However, Trump not good for anyone’s
401k and I found several articles about 401k managers written recently https://theintercept.com/2020/07/23/...vestment-risk/
Defend him all you want but think of your retirement income, Trump is not thinking of yours Your funnier then me, but this topic shouldt be a comedy. Trump will do so much crazy and destructive things in his second term the market will be volatile like nothing we have ever seen.
