Let's put this in to baseball perspective.

Your team has ample money to spend. It has enough loot to go over the cap and still be a successful organization and going one the cap will make them a WS contender and a top 3 team.

Scenario 1-Your FO decides that you have 2 TORP guys. 2 very good Mid rotation guys. 1 very solid back end guy. 2 young pitchers in the system who are ready to come up. It's a top 10 rotation and can win a title. They say, we are not spending more.
Early in the season, 1 TORP and the 2 mid rotation guys get hurt and are done for the year. You now have 1 TORP, 1 ok mid rotation guys, 2 untested back end guys and you have to scrounge for a 5th starter. Your season just became very difficult. You can win but the odds are now against you and any more injury to the rotation will destroy any chance.

As fans, we scream about not being prepared and not spending to make sure we would be set for the year.

Scenario 2- The FO has foresight. They have 2 TORP gas, 1 very good mid rotation guy, 2 solid back end guys and a couple young guys who are ready. It's a top 10 rotation but they want to spend and make sure they have a surplus of arms.
They get another TORP, another very good mid rotation guy and another 2 solid back end guys who can be stashed.
They now have 3 TORP and 2 very good mid rotation guys to start the season.
Fans get angry at spending on too much pithing.

1 TORP gets hurt and your 2 Mid rotation guys get hurt. Done for year.
You now have 2 TORP and 3 solid back end guys. You still have another back end in the system along with the two kids.
Because of those additions, you still have a top 10 rotation. You are still a legit contender.

Fans applaud the FO for having the foresight to stockpile arms.

As a nation, we need to stockpile arms.

Those were and are the two worst hotspots.

Trump had a travel ban on Jan 31. He OBVIOUSLY slowed a point of entry. Unfortunately people still came in this Country with the virus. And that is how the virus came in. It didn’t just pop up out of nowhere. Yet we had people complaining about that particular travel ban. All are idiots who complained about the Jan 31 travel ban.


My point is if China never got to the million mark with cases, and of course you have to question their reported cases, why would the US go that high with all that was done so far?

People can argue about the response of Trump but he still took action on Jan 31 and that was a HUGE POINT OF ENTRY that was stopped with people coming into this country. Yet, Biden, Bernie and the Trump opposition had the nerve to question it. U real from those people. Oh, I know why, the impeachment was still wet and fresh.

People telling us the worst case scenarios only causes panic. And those people were saying 1/3 of the US will get it.

Again, look at the current numbers and the current precautions that this Country is doing right now....I just don’t see the crazy high numbers that they are saying.....

And if everybody has a cough they will all panic and run to get a test or think they have a death sentence. And that is ridiculous.

China and Italy went into lockdown. Italy's numbers are still climbing.
The virus can lay in silence for 14 days. The issue is one of us, who is relatively healthy, contracting it and coming into contact with people who are at risk.
We are in this together. That's it. We are a country, community, society. We need to watch out for each other and help how we can.
We all hope the containment is working. It takes at least 2 weeks to see if this works.

Fauci stated the Trump's China travel restriction in Jan, likely helped significantly. Trump has also cut through red tape to find masks. He has told the Governors to get what they need ASAP and not wait for him because they might have faster routes. He has taken some good steps. I applaud his change in stance.

The reason our government is telling us the worst case, is because it scares people. It scares them into at least moderately adhering to the guidelines they set forth.
Social distancing can cut the spread to 1%. We need to listen.

The good thing is the economy was roaring prior to this and the chances are great for it to continue, albeit a little slower and that would be no surprise to anyone.

Gov Cuomo just made a bad day with the Market go down even more with more sell offs.

He said in his presser that NYC needs 37000 ICU beds and we only have 3500.. a huge sell off ensued.

The other topi he mentioned was a floating hospital(ship) is heading to NY.

Yep. My other concern is that after a mass sell off, those same higher wealth people, buy it up.
I don't fault them for it. If I was that liquid, I'd do the same.
