This disparity in COVID19 mortality between men >> women in Italy was also seen in China.

Analysis of 44,672 coronavirus patients in China: of those who died, 63.8% were men vs. 36.2% women with case-fatality rates of 2.8 vs 1.7%, respectively.

I also read that for those with loss of smell and taste, that was all they experienced. So they are carriers more than getting sick.

I have also read some articles about younger, athletes getting the virus and having severe cases.
I do wonder if the idea of, "training through a cold" had anything to do with increasing severity. They are conditioned to keep going.

Dr, the death rate in Italy is 9.7%

The Death Rate in the US is 1.3%

The Death Rate in S Korea( we are being told they are the model) is 1.2%

Maybe we can beat this afterall.

    There is a silver lining....

Experts are saying the first 3 weeks of the virus was the most important to avoid spreading.....

UNFORTUNATELY, China hauled in Dr’s and Media members during that time of importance to shut them up.....

Dr, how can you compare Italy to the US when the death rates are not even close?

9.8%(Italy) vs 1.3%(US) is a very HUGE NUMBER.

    4.6%(China) vs 1.3%(US)

You need to compare SKorea to the US.

You know that kind of programmed Sean Hannity, Laura Ingrahm, red hat thinking has no place in the coming post virus world. The irony is Republicans aren't making a stand against socialism and bailouts now. It's hurry up without reading the fine print.

Who is comparing Italy to US? I am posting research being done that doesn't even mention US. They were looking at the male - female disparity in China.

No Nicky, I think the ideological agenda of which you speak favors getting money in the pockets of those in dire need as opposed to bailing out corporations. Companies who have shown repeatedly that they will act in their own corporate interest as opposed to their workers. The most egregious element, the entrusting of half a trillion dollars in secret to an administration with a proven record of abusing public money for selfish purposes.

I don't expect you will get the distinction considering you moaned at the outset about your stock portfolio taking a hit as a result of the pandemic.

When it comes to bailouts R's love corporate socialism!

Socialism for the rich and capitalism for the poor.

Hmmm What about he giant companies with CEOs who get hundreds of millions for bonuses, asking for a bailout? Why don't they use the money they make off their workers, make sure they have money to eat and stay healthy but sacrificing some billions? You know, instead of crying to the federal government that they are victims and need help?

If big business didn't do stock buy backs or give out high multi million dollar bonuses, they probably wouldn't be in this situation.

I'm all for giving them help. But there needs to be firm language on how they can use the money. Like zero bonuses over x amount of dollars for x amount of time, zero lay offs for x amount of time, zero stock buy backs for x amount of time. With harsh punishment for breaking the rules.

Otherwise we're just going to be back in the same boat when something like this happens again. Enough is enough with corporate bailouts when companies have little to no reason to change their ways knowing they'll just keep getting bailed out.
