According to what? A hunch of yours? I'm pretty sure society won't fold in on itself if shelter in place continues for one more month.

I'm not to concerned with another month or even 6 weeks, I'm talking about 3months or more. Banks maybe willing to waive mortgage/ car payments and some landlords rent for 3 months but after that those bills are going to have to start being payed. The government isn't going to be able to sent out enough money for people to cover all that with basically writing bad checks that will lead to massive inflation

They need to start doing this and the plasma thing on everyone. End this **** quick. No need to wait months or a year for stuff to get totally approved.

I read it just fine, thanks. It's already been just about a month. One month plus another month is two months aka multiple months.

At some point in the not to distant future they are going to have open the US back up for all business and people are going to just have to realize this virus is a risk and take the necessary precautions to stay safe. Their are still a ton of " necessary" industries working and the large majority are being able to stay safe and healthy. You have the CEO of a major capital investment firm (and one of the principal owners of the GS Warriors) suggesting that every man, woman and child should have been given a half a million dollars as that would have done more for the economy more than saving failed hedge funds, bailing out billionaires, trying to save airliners and cruise ships.

Even if you want to make the case that's a myopic argument because there are so many other factors, the money isn't being used appropriately. Inflation would be an issue but the American dollar is getting stronger by the day backed by global fears economically.

There is certainly room to give more money to American citizens or at the very least allocate it better. The problem is both political parties work for the 1% and you have a president whose soul interest is fortune 500 companies so the American citizen will take a backseat.

For $500k I'll gladly stay home for another year and they can cancel all sports, both live and the re-airing of old games like they've been doing. I will live in complete isolation with just me and my family, only leaving the house once a month for big grocery runs.

You'd do a lot more for a lot less money.

At least that's what oak told me.

Trump still continues not to make a federal mandate for all states to shelter in place. Why?
If you want to beat this thing, there has to be a consistent approach across the country. We know it doesn't have the same effect in Nebraska it does in New York but the concept is still the same. If you want to stop the spread, you need people to stay home no matter where they are. There is no preparing for something like this. The resources it would take financially are almost inconceivable. Sure they could have done better but there was no blueprint for these things.
Probably because the laws don't allow him to do so... it does allow the governors.. but NOT the president... and since his name is NOT Obama.. he recognizes that the law does not give him that right and he refuses to just take it..

Trump is the type of president you want when the economy is going well and the USA is just humming along. If you put any major event in front of him, he gets exposed quickly as someone who can't effectively lead.
You might want to rethink things... I've heard things from other sources (certainly NOT CNN or NBC News) and to be honest.. Trump is doing as well as any president really could.. The biggest area's that they fault him for as also the areas that the office of the President has not authority over... like a national quarantine.. He don't have that power... even Congress does not have it.. it's considered a states right so only the governors can call for that..

Everything else I hear is all accusation with little evidence.. just that that BS impeachment.. they were heaving on the accusations... very light on actual evidence (like NONE.)...

NY is getting hoisted by their own petards... Cuomo is complaining of lack of beds and ventilators.. of course one of his first acts in office 8 years ago was to close down many hospitals because there were so many empty beds... ooops.. now he needs them, and don't have them... Ventilators.. I'm hearing that his buddy Delasio Sold the stockpile.. smooth move ex-lax... Then they were threatening upstate NY by coming and just taking their Ventilators... Oh, that went over well... they way he was going to do it amounted to theft...

The medical community is put in a very bad spot here.. trying to find something that works or even a cure but you have exactly... no time to do as it's needed yesterday... well, that **** takes time...

and like anything else... the politicians are making this from bad to worse... This is a case where they aught to do what they normally do... Shut up and just throw money at it... let the Doctors and scientists do their thing and you need to get out of the way...

But they won't.... Dems accuse trump of creating it... oh, he's just trying to make money off of it.... Nancy, chuck.. just because that's how you operate don't mean that's how everyone else does.....

and is it just me, or does Chuck Schumer remind you of a ventriloquist dummy on Nancy's lap?

    That's not necessarily true.

    https://www.statnews.com/2020/03/17/...own-explainer/

Neither federal nor state governments have clear authority, he argued, to restrict travel between states, thus making it difficult to justify any sort of domestic travel restriction in court.

Cohen predicted that in most cases the government would be required to show any quarantine order advances a “compelling government interest” and then prove that the government action was narrowly tailored to meet that goal. That’s where orders might get caught up in court: If quarantines or lockdowns are seen by judges as unnecessarily broad, they could be struck down.
Obama would have put more public pressure on states to issue stay at home orders. At the end of the day, its what is best for the health of American people. It still is as we speak.

Reopening the country at the end of this month is presumably a mistake as well. I understand the financial ramifications but if you attempt to normalize things too quick, you run the risk of this being a big problem again. The peak of this isn't supposed to hit for another week or two so April 30th is a really optimistic date.

Not to mention, you, Jorge, Mush, seem to forget the most dangerous part of this. The medical community differs but there are studies out there that suggest 50% (or more) are asymptomatic carriers. That's a scary stat even with proper precautions being taken.

actually, I'm hearing from multiple sources the exact opposite... this looks clearly man-made... would also explain why China clamped things down from the world... mutations would have had others sick from the previous iterations in years past... except there were no previous iterations... these things rare just pop up from nowhere...
