My stance on it has done a complete 180. A week or so ago when **** really started to hit the fan I definitely thought no big deal, just another flu. Thought people were crazy and needed to calm the F down.

After seeing the numbers skyrocket over the past week I've chosen to exercise my right at work to take time off so that I can stay home. I get paid for 2 weeks by my work then can use my PTO which I still have almost all of, or can just be off with no pay. PTO resets in 3 months or so, so might as well use it up now.

I have a 2 yr old and a 5 month old. Seeing stuff about kids getting it, a 7 month old I saw got pneumonia. It's just not worth the risk.

I work in peoples houses doing home theater installs for Geek Squad. Basically asking to get it or give it to someone if I had it and didn't know it. I would say that 60-70% of our clients are 55+ years old, the prime candidates for being royally screwed if they were to get it.

Somehow, even in San Francisco where they're on complete lockdown, Geek Squad is considered an essential business and still running. Only part of my company I could maybe see as essential is appliance install/repair. With so many people home, refrigerators, stoves, washer/dryer are definitely things people need. But imo the home theater side of things should not be happening right now. Nobody NEEDS a new TV, surround sound, smart home devices, etc.

Definitely going to need to make another grocery store run soon. Got enough stuff for a week or 2 just in case when I went a week ago. Looks like we'll need more.

At this point it's just a trial, too small a sample. They will probably do more testing and if they find it to be effective on larger samples they could fast track it.

I am not sure. I see the conflict. What I read:
Twenty cases were treated in this study and showed a significant reduction of the viral
carriage at D6-post inclusion compared to controls, and much lower average carrying duration
than reported of untreated patients in the literature. Azithromycin added to
hydroxychloroquine was significantly more efficient for virus elimination.

The primary endpoint was virological clearance at day-6 post-inclusion. Secondary outcomes
were virological clearance overtime during the study period, clinical follow-up (body
temperature, respiratory rate, long of stay at hospital and mortality), and occurrence of side-effects.

When comparing the effect of hydroxychloroquine treatment as a single drug and the effect of
hydroxychloroquine and azithromyc in combination, the proportion of patients that had
negative PCR results in nasopharyngeal samples was significantly different between the two
groups at days 3-4-5 and 6 post-inclusion (Table 3). At day6 post-inclusion, 100% of patients
treated with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin combination were virologicaly cured
comparing with 57.1% in patients treated with hydroxychloroquine only, and 12.5% in the
control group (p<0.001). These results are summarized in Figures 1 and 2. Drug effect was
significantly higher in patients with symptoms of URTI and LRTI, as compared to
asymptomatic patients with p<0.05.

They said cured, I read it (erroneously) as cleared. "At day6 post-inclusion, 100% of patients
treated with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin combination were virologicaly cured"

The silver lining if proved to be efficacious, using already approved drugs has obvious advantages. Hurdles to approval have been cleared. Side effects are known. Generics are often available.

I would think with WHO and other international agencies involved, China is less likely to offer "alternative facts." But I am not denying it's possible. As I prefaced, FWIW.

Of the 14,597 people to be tested so far, nearly 5,000 were tested on Tuesday, helping explain why the number of new cases jumped for 1,000 in just 24 hours to 2,382 people. More testing reveals more accurate data. We should have done it a month sooner!

There are many thing surfacing about how poorly we as a country are responding to this compared to the rest of the world

Our lack of faith in all of our elected officials and government is evident in the way we are handling this

We kinda suck. We are selfish, foolish and spoiled because we have been sold that we are number 1. We are not. We are part of the world community and this is a stark awakening as to how poor we are at accepting our own flaws as a nation
This is from decades of a government that has pitted us against them even when the “them” is literally your neighbor and friend.

It has been decades in the making

This has nothing g to do with any president
This has to do with misinformation we have been fed to the point that we don’t believe our own officials to have our best interest in mind

Ya, my problem is I've eaten all the really good stuff like snack food and frozen pizzas first. Should just buy myself About 50 of them next time I go, if there are even any available lol. I haven't been in a week so not sure what to expect. I'm sure things like bread, pasta, Mac and cheese, are all gone.
