Klown thats an excellent point but i would still think that they would want to try something like securing the 1st &2nd rib together before they try to remove that 1st rib
Rib removal from what I have seen has a restriction time of 3-5 weeks and then you can start activity.

But I meant that if he feels better after two weeks, they will still have to with 3-5 more for the rib to completely heal from the fracture. I wasn't talking about the removal, just healing time being 6-8 weeks all in if there is no surgery.

There are two mods in this forum and at least 5 administrators, I suggest you ask one of them. I have no clue.

Whats this "2 weeks" business? LOL. If he fractured it in September, there's NO WAY, it's healing in 2 weeks. We're not talking about a bruise here. It's been 6 months since it happened!!!! That's some stress fracture!

I'm not a DR or even a dr, but I think the lack of healing depends also on how much he's stressed the rib during the off season. It's a stress fracture. So how did it get stressed? Did it happen due to a rigorous weight training program mixed with taking swings and did Judge continue that program 7 days per week in the off season? Also, perhaps it's partially/mostly healed and rest without any weight lifting or taking swings (cold turkey) might do the trick after a few weeks. Also, the new strength training staff might modify his training program in the future to prevent a setback.

    Jerry Hairston, Jr.@TheRealJHair

Had exact injury after running into wall in ‘06 & didn’t find out til Sept of ‘07 through Art Howe’s back specialist who finally diagnosed it. It’s rare injury but painful. Couldn’t do ANYTHING for 2 months to make sure it healed. It did & felt great after

That's what I figured. He will take 2 weeks off ad it will feel better, so he won't need surgery but he will still have a good 3-5 weeks more before resuming swings and such

it's possible to play games without ppl in the stands, in order to preserve the season. The only question is, would they want to. Right now, the owners don't need to pay any of the players. If they don't play this year, Cole literally loses 30 million dollars, but i feel for guys like Urshela, who has been paid minor league money up till last year when he finally got the minimum and this year he was set to make 2.5 million. To go from making minimum wage your whole career for just 3 months out of the year, and possibly living in abject poverty, to making over 2 million dollars is life changing.

Its hard to believe they would play a 100 game schedule (hypothetically if they started in July) in front of no fans. It becomes too costly of an operation. Not to mention you're still putting too many players and player personnel at risk flying from city to city. I highly doubt we're going to see a season. Ron Darling said on Moose and Maggie today he doesn't see one happening either.

I know there have been talks about July 4th but things are going to have to change drastically and for the positive for that to happen imo. You can't in good conscience have a season if the estimates of a 100-200 thousand people dying of this in the US holds any weight.
