There's been studies done that point to degrading goalie performance based on the number of starts. Some of these point to numbers as high as 65, others as low as 50.

The last thing you want to do before the playoffs is run your starter into the ground if you don't have to.

Hart currently has 40 starts, will like finish the regular Season just under 50. Meaning if the flyers make a run, he's going to be surpassing those numbers on the way.

I think the team stands tall in front of Elliot this game though. It would be a statement to take down TB with Elliot in net and no Myers, Lindblom, Patty, Frosty, or my Mom.

still not a fan at all. It should be hart. Now we will have elliot 2/3 of the next games. Hart hasn't had a huge work load this season. Start your starting goalie against a top 5 team. IF we want to win we need hart to be more comfortable on the road. This is the perfect chance for him to get a big road game.

Not sure why you are fighting this. Elliott has played well lately. Were worried about running Provy into the ground, but not Hart? I really don't want Hart going over 50 starts in the regular season given the season's ever 60+ start goalie over the past 5 years or so has followed that campaign with an abysmal season. Analytics say 50 is the sweet spot to not overwork your goalie, so no reason to mess with that unless you have to.

i want first in metro lol. If elliot sucks and loses (and potentially gets another loss against minnesota), that would set us back especially since washington and pens have easier matchups tomorrow. I highly doubt 2-3 more starts will affect him that much. Its not that big of a deal, Im just not a fan of it when we are fighting for home ice and first

Also, i never said i'm worried about provy being run down. For me, it just makes sense to have him on pp2 and niskanen just off of it so that they can focus on ev/pk more. I don't mind niskanen being on it as he has been good but rather just have sanheim on it (shouldn't be a drop at all). That is 2 more minutes being spent elsewhere that can help the team more for nisky/potentially prov

Article on BSH about how bad Thompson has been, just terrible, and recommending Frost go to 3C when called up and then drop 1 of Laughton or Grant to 4C; Charlie cited ... but yah, the announcers said Thompson was so good.

i'm sure the article addressed each of the following points in copious detail:

    -- small sample size
    -- 70+% DZ-start percentage
-- he's been the team's best PKer since arriving
-- at least one penalty call against him was laughably awful (and IIRC, the other minor was pretty soft, too)
-- it took months for most of this team to get comfortable playing in AV's system, and thompson only got here 2 weeks ago.

I honestly don't think Thompson has looked too bad. No stats to back it up, but I actually liked him vs the bruins

how true is this. I haven't minded thompson as much as I thought I would. Then again, i would rather have laughts as c and grant as 4c. Not sure how frost would do in the playoffs.

i'm not sure if anyone else follows the NBA, but here are some potentially relevant tweets:
    Jeff Siegel @jgsiegel

There's a real chance that tonight is the last set of NBA games for a while. If one game is postponed based on player illness, as Royce Young reported is the belief at this point, how can you let other games continue?
    Chris Mannix @SIChrisMannix
    As I wrote tonight:

If a player gets infected, it's game over. An entire team will have to be quarantined for a period of time. The ripple effects would halt the entire season.

    Shams Charania @ShamsCharania

Following Rudy Gobert's positive COVID-19 test, the NBA is in an indefinite suspension.
