Should Washington draft a QB with the 2nd pick

Should they do what the Cards did and give up on their young QB? Maybe they could start Alex Smith and red shirt Tua if they take him.

Haskins was one of the better rookie QBs last year, would be kind of dumb. If Ron doesn't like him he really shouldn't have taken the job.

Counting on ending up with a RG3/Cousins situation but with a lot more draft capital invested seems short-sighted.

Ultimately depends on what Haskins value might be to a team who has a pick too low to trade up to #3, but still needs a QB.

Let's say the Chargers at 6 don't want a FA QB, but feel like they're gonna get the 4th best QB in the draft (Bengals #1, Lions->Colts #3, Dolphins #5), they might give up their 2nd round++ for Haskins to let the Redskins take Tua at #2, forcing Miami and Indy to battle for the #3 from the Lions.

Or the Pats at #23 if Brady really leaves, I don't know that Haskins is their guy, but theoretically they aren't trading up to #3, so they need to get somebody.

Both of these examples kind of suck (which is why I think the Redskins won't get anywhere). But the concept works. Maybe better examples are the Colts and Buccs at #13 and #14. Maybe they can't jump both the Chargers and Dolphins.

Haskins was scouted as "Bledsoe with a weaker arm, but still stronger than average arm" which would seem like a decent fit for Tampa.

"Hater" is a term used by weak minded people in the face of legitimate criticism.

Absolutely they should. No ulterior motive here of course.

Wait, why would a Lions fan want to de-value the Lions #3 overall pick?

QB going 1 and 2 lands us Chase Young. He's the guy I want the most in the draft.

Brah, Alex Smith's leg is straight up ground meat. He's not playing ever again.

Haskins is either going to be really good or straight trash. When I watched him last year he was going through his reads seemingly really well for a rookie but was throwing awful passes. That made me think he didn't have good chemistry as a starter or he's just a bad passer.

    I'm torn on it.

lions are just a dumpster fire right now, so if we can get numerous picks that are round 1-3 I'm all for trading.

thing is though, they have been awful at drafting, and Young seems like a surefire selection.

so even IF they can get a bunch of picks, I'd almost rather they just go with Young because at least he's unlikely to bust.

in all likelihood, Tua is gone in the top 5...10 at worst.......a team going QB in the late 1st will be lucky to even find Eason there

[Deen] New coach Ron Rivera told Tua Tagovailoa he wants to bring him to Washington to compete with second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins during their meeting at the NFL combine, a source told the South Florida Sun Sentinel. They felt like Dwayne was not the guy right now, source said.
