    Free agency 2020

Looking at the list of free agents in this year's class...it is weak but then again there are players there who are All Star caliber or very good

    Anthony Davis (player option)
    Brandon Ingram (restricted)
    Andre Drummond (player option)
    Montrezl Harrell (unrestricted)
    Gordon Hayward (player option)
    Fred Van Vleet (unrestricted)
    Bogdan Bogdanovic (restricted)
    Marcus Morris Sr (unrestricted)
    DeMar DeRozan (player option)
    Danilo Gallinari (unrestricted)
    Mike Conley Jr (player option)
    Paul Millsap (unrestricted)
    Evan Fournier (player option)
    Davis Bertans (unrestricted)
    Serge Ibaka (unrestricted)
    Joe Harris (unrestricted)
    Tristan Thompson (unrestricted)
    Goran Dragic (unrestricted)
    Marc Gasol (unrestricted)
    Hassan Whiteside (unrestricted)

There are even more names that I could go on and on about but probably the biggest names would be AD, Ingram, Drummond, Hayward, DeRozan, Conley and Gallinari

I can see Drummond opting out, the big reason is that he knows if he signs that contract with the Cavs; he wont be happy for the next 3years, and then they would just trade him in his final years.

When it comes to AD, the Lakers are in the drivers seat; but if for some reason an unexpected accident occurs, then Miami is next inline.

Hayward would want to have another good year before he tries to hit free agency.

Contending teams will reach out to players like Ibaka, Dragic, T Thompson, M Gasol.

Drummond has said he will probably pick up his player option. The trade deadline showed him how terrible his value is around the league.

Do you think the Pelicans offer the max or match a max offer sheet though? They were already unwilling to give him a max extension. Heís had the blood clot scare so maybe thatís why

When was the last pretty weak FA class like this? I'm having trouble remembering. Seems like there's always been quite a few guys available.

Been awhile for sure, I definitely think this is a good summer for teams to round their rosters out with very good role players and maybe take that next step though.

VanVleet will get a max contract either with the Pistons or Knicks or Magic in the East but if VanVleet ends up going to the Western Conference...he will end up going to a team like the Suns, Pelicans or Timberwolves

Ingram being a free agent restricted I can see him getting paid by the Pelicans but as far as teams who reach out to BI: Lakers, Knicks, Celtics, Heat, Spurs, Nuggets, Rockets or Thunder

How would some of these teams afford him since theyíre already over the cap or close to it?

Obviously they unload some of their players they have plus whatever future picks they have plus whatever draft pick to make room for BI

I think AD signs a 1+1 deal to stay in LA.

I also think Ingram is a very interesting free agent. Reports are the the Pelicans didnít want to give him the max, not sure if thatís changed yet or not. If they still donít want to give him the max I wouldnít be mad at Miami maxing him at all. If they max Ingram and get their meeting with Giannis the following summer in 2021 and he says he wants to come to Miami you then sign and trade Ingram for Giannis, no way the Bucks say no to that over losing Giannis for nothing.

This is also an underwhelming free agency class but I think you could make a case that Ingram is a more enticing piece to sign than any free agent in 2021 outside of Giannis Kawhi and AD.

Ingram isnít even 22 and a half yet and is averaging 25-7-5 with very good shooting numbers. Heís turning into a do it all and a do it all high level player and thatís shown with his first all star appearance. His age fits in perfectly with what Miami is doing now and for the future.

Also you have to factor in other than age, the size of his max contract compared to other free agents max contracts outside of the 3 I named in 2021.

For example, you can sign Brandon Ingram for 4/124M this summer.

Iím having trouble finding projections but I would say guys like Oladipo and PG would be eligible for 4/160 or even higher with LeBron being even more than than. Which would you rather have:

    Ingram - 4/124
    Oladipo - 4/150-165
    PG - 4/150-165

Hope Miami gives this a look.

Forgot this part but if the Pelicans are still on the fence about it maybe Miami can send Nunn or picks in a sign and trade to win them over.

Won't happen because Nunn by himself won't be enough and besides Nunn is not even all that good
