    Projected 2020 Opening Day Roster

    C-Wilson Ramos, Rene Rivera
    1B-Pete Alonso, Dominic Smith
    2B-Robinson Cano
    SS-Amed Rosario, Luis Guillorme
    3B-Jeff McNeil
    LF-JD Davis, Yoenis Cespedes
    CF-Brandon Nimmo, Jake Marisnick
    RF-Michael Conforto

    SP-Jacob deGrom
    SP-Noah Syndergaard
    SP-Marcus Stroman
    SP-Rick Porcello
    SP-Steven Matz

    CL-Edwin Diaz
    SU-Dellin Betances
    RP-Seth Lugo
    RP-Jeurys Familia
    RP-Justin Wilson
    RP-Robert Gsellman
    RP-Brad Brach
    RP-Michael Wacha

    IL: Jed Lowrie

Now lets compare that with last year:

    C-Wilson Ramos, Tomas Nido
    1B-Pete Alonso, Dominic Smith
    2B-Robinson Cano
    SS-Amed Rosario, Luis Guillorme
    3B-Jeff McNeil, JD Davis
    LF-Brandon Nimmo
    CF-Juan Lagares, Keon Broxton
    RF-Michael Conforto

    SP-Jacob deGrom
    SP-Noah Syndergaard
    SP-Zack Wheeler
    SP-Steven Matz
    SP-Jason Vargas

    CL-Edwin Diaz
    SU-Jeurys Familia
    RP-Seth Lugo
    RP-Justin Wilson
    RP-Robert Gsellman
    RP-Luis Avilan
    RP-Tim Peterson
    (One less roster spot)

IL: Jed Lowrie, Yoenis Cespedes, Todd Frazier, Travis díArnaud, Drew Smith

Roster looks MUCH deeper this season than last. MLB arms are closer to big league ready in the minors as well and guys like Drew Smith and Kilome (from Phillies trade) are coming back from injury.

How is Jedd Lowrie starting off on the injured list when he's perfectly healthy now?

I think nido gets the nod but I agree otherwise Stuna. Not as much grey area on the bench and pen as in recent years.

Lowrie canít be depended on to be healthy to start the year or otherwise.

Yeah Iím just not a fan of Nido. Iíve always liked Rivera as our backup catcher and heís very familiar with our pitchers and organization already.

He has to wear that thing to play? He's basically a DH. How will he have any lateral mobility with that?

    Don't worry. He's got this.

I have to think they are trying to dump Lowrie any way they can. There is really no place for him on the team - even with a 26-man roster.

Wonder if its degenerative because it doesn't make sense that if it was something they could fix surgically, that he wouldn't have been healed or in the process of healing. Don't see how he's going to hold up long running the bases.

I have an easier explanation. He put on a Met uniform. Where most good things go to die.

Iím not a fan of nido either was hoping to upgrade there but the difference between him and Rivera is negligible imo so they will likely go with the younger guy and keep Rivera in Syracuse.
