Duncan Robinson: From Nothing to Something

Slow day today so wanted to bring to light one of the better success stories in the league in terms of just sticking with it, putting in the work, and believing in yourself.

Duncan Robinson play college for a D3 school coming out of high school, he busted his *** and eventually got to play for the University or Michigan on a full scholarship (the only player to ever do this). He then redshirted his first season and played out the rest of his college career at Michigan and then went undrafted in the NBA draft. He was then picked up by Miami to play with their summer league and gleague team.

He didnít play much his rookie season but now in his sophomore season he is the best shooter in the league with Curry being out. While shooting 44% from 3 on 8.1 attempts per game he is the best shooter, there are a couple close behind in Bertans and Reddick.

Robinson is the first player to ever make 200 career 3s in less than 80 games, heís done it in 69.

Heís currently having a better 3 point shooting season than Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, Kevin Durant, it Klay Thompson (Klay by a slight margin) have ever had. Heís shooting 14 attempts per game since the deadline so Iím curious to see how things play out if he ends up taking 10-12 a game where he could possibly challenge Currys best 3 point shooting season.

Iím loving his story and obviously his shooting for my team, his impact is top 3 on the team and possibly not 3rd. He should be as close to untouchable as it gets for Miami as itís not very often you find a generational shooting talent.

Like him and buy the gist of the story but I dont buy he went d3 without offer and no academic or legal problem that stopped from getting an offer.

No legal or academic issues, everything I see says colleges were intrigued with his shooting but not his frail frame at the time. He was probably even more of a stick back then. He then led his team to the D3 national championship game as a freshman and finally started getting the recognition he deserved and hit the transfer portal and ended up at Michigan

Maybe you donít learn to shoot like that at 20 so Iím sure he could stroke it out of HS. He is also 6í7 now unless he grew half a foot after HS I cannot see him not getting offers

If you want a different kind inspirational story check out Terrence Davis from the raptors. They guy could have been the best WR in the NFL right now, but picked basketball because. Would be a more challenging path. When he wasnít picked in the 1st round he told teams not to draft him so he could earn a guaranteed contract during summer league.

    Or FVV.
    Or siakam.
Check out Boucher for a crazy one.

Honestly just look into all of the raptors and every single one of the players has a seriously inspirational story.

Rodgers was 5'10" 165 lbs as a HS Senior. Much like Carson Wentz, who was 6'2" as a senior.

How many attempts and where does he rank all time in 3 pointers made per minute played?

Doesnít matter. He has a more inspirational story than Robinson so heís automatically better. He was getting triple teamed by the Bucks last night at points in the game because heís so good.
