    NY Yankees vs Philadelphia Phillies.

Long before the scheduled first pitch, the first game of a two-game series in Philadelphia was postponed due to numerous positive tests for the Miami Marlins.

As of Monday night, the Yankees and Phillies were slated to get together on Tuesday in Philadelphia before the same two clubs are due to open a two-game series at Yankees Stadium on Wednesday.

On Monday, the Yankees were locked down in their Philadelphia hotel and underwent the saliva test for COVID-19, and were awaiting the outcome of the same tests for the Phillies. There were whispers about possibly moving the game to Yankee Stadium, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia, but no venue switch was made.

It is even possible the teams could play a doubleheader Tuesday, but the more likely scenario is a single game Tuesday followed by a doubleheader in the Bronx on Wednesday or Thursday.

    POSTPONED

MLB source confirms that tonight’s Yankees-Phillies game has been postponed. Some Phillies players are still waiting for test results. Yankees were told the decision to postpone tonight’s game was based on abundance of caution. There was no indication given that any Phillies players had tested positive.

    Yankees home opener

    Zach Eflin
    RHP
    0-0, -.-- ERA, 0 SO
Eflin got the green light to start Tuesday following a simulated game on Thursday. He missed some time in Summer Camp because of lower back spasms, which put him behind schedule.

    Gerrit Cole
    RHP
    1-0, 1.80 ERA, 5 SO
Cole is scheduled to take the ball for his second turn in the rotation after making his Opening Day start vs. Washington. He is 4-3 with a 3.38 ERA in seven career starts vs. the Phillies, but is 2-1 with a 5.40 ERA in three starts at Citizens Bank Park.

    Aaron Nola
    RHP
    0-1, 6.75 ERA, 7 SO
Nola pitched well through five innings on Opening Day, but he ran into trouble in the sixth in a loss to Miami. He missed time early in camp, which could explain lower velocity in the season opener.

    Jordan Montgomery
    LHP
    0-0, -.-- ERA, 0 SO
Montgomery is expected to be recalled to start the home opener. He pitched to a 2.81 ERA in 16 spring innings, looking strong after returning from Tommy John surgery to work four big league innings last year. Montgomery is 7-3 with a 3.45 ERA in 19 career starts at Yankee Stadium.

    TV: NBCSP, SNET

    Zack Wheeler
    RHP
    1-0, 1.29 ERA, 4 SO
Wheeler's Phillies' debut, against the Marlins on Saturday, was a huge success. He allowed one run in seven innings, showing his nasty array of pitches. The outing capped a great week for Wheeler, as his wife gave birth to their first child on July 20.
