Marc Gasol is another free agent (along with Ibaka) that can make the short roll passes. And Gasol is an even better passer to cutters and with handoffs in general.

Lots of teams with dynamic ball handlers should be looking for this type of guy to improve their P&R game.

And it goes beyond sentimental reasons, Gasol even at 35, was still DAMN good on defense last year. Here is how he ranked among centers in key defensive impact data:

D-PIPM: 5th
DRPM: 5th
DefRAPTOR: 5th

I mean some bonkers on/off data too.

W/Gasol on the floor last season, Toronto had a netRTG of +10.8 and defRTG of 99.7(!) Opponents shot just 58% at the rim in those lineups (49.2% eFG%)

W/Gasol off: +3.1 net, 108.2 defRTG (!) and opponents shot 60.5% at the rim, 51.3% eFG%

Also going to be quite a different offensive dimension going from McGee to Gasol. For one, the spacing. Removing garage time/heaves, Gasol has made 153 of his last 416 threes (36.7%) the past two seasons. He converted 38% of his shots last year, and was in the 85th %-ile in freq.

He can shot the mid range too. Gee and Howard only dunks.

Gasol/Howard would have been nice. Two different type of centers. I was never a fan of the Mcgee/Howard combo two centers doing the came thing. When i suggest Marc i was hit with no thanks hes slow. I think hes going to fit real well with this team. Best case was Ibaka/Howard but Marc/Harrell is right there. My only thing with Marc is age and Harrell cant shoot but Howard cant shoot either and Ibalka dont have the same bounce he once like before.

Who have the best front court? Zubac/Ibalka or Gasol/Harrell, its really hard to call to be honest but if you ad Davis then Lakers no question.

I think Harrell is being severely underrated as of late. I think he is so much better than Ibaka. Yeah Ibaka can shoot the 3 better, but Harrell is a straight beast and I guarantee he’s is gonna be a monster next to Lebron watch. A monster. Last year every game the best player on the court was always either Bron or AD. I don’t remember a single game where one of them didn’t have the best game. If Ibaka came here, he never would of been the most productive player either. With Trez, he’s going to be the most productive player on the court over AD and Bron a few times next year. I hope you are correct. You make a convincing argument.

It would be huge to take some of the load off LBJ and AD.

I am excited for this season to see all the new players and how they all come together as a team.

I really want THT and Kostas to get some quality playing time so they can get up to game speed and let's see if they can up their game and contribute.

Will McKinnie be a contributor like some have said?

Give us the luxury of trading Kuz if we can something good in return. It would benefit Kuz to get rid of his soft play and fill out his game. If not he goes.

UnwrittenRules@UnwrittenRul3s Nov 26 The Lakers were a -1.9 in the 14 minutes a game LeBron James sat last year in the regular season, yet the Lakers still finished 5th in net rating. Even if they just flip that to a small positive it's a huge deal, but this bench has the potential to do much more than that.

Markieff shot 42% from 3 in the playoffs. He's a strong guy who can't be easily pushed around and he can switch on defense. Really glad he's back.
