The 1st overall pick will make close to $10M. 17th overall picks makes about $3M. You're in the ballpark of $126-128M now, which may already put you over the tax depending on how big the cap drop is.
They're trying to contend. Do they want to use their MLE? That's definitely going to put them over the tax.
Trading Johnson gives them a lot of flexibility for only moving down 10 spots in this draft.
