Can an animal's life be more valuable than a human's?

All the talk about the possible extinction of a multitude of species due to the Australia fires got me thinking. Short of someone committing a heinous criminal act, do you think it's possible for an animal's life to have more value than a humans? The scenario I'm envisioning that prompted this question is if there's a fire bearing down and you only have the ability to save one, a person, or an animal that if you do not save it, the species will go extinct; would anyone save the animal?

I guess I can see the argument for saving an animal that is about to go extinct for all-time, but even then, I have a difficult time actually placing the value of the animal's life above that of a human.

    What do you think?

Depends on the animal. If its like a rare species of mouse, **** no. If it's a useful animal that an ecosystem would fail without, maybe.

In 99% of cases, the human wins. Even useless humans have more use to the world than most animals. Unless its a dog. Then its the dog unless its a family member. Damn this is hard.

id always choose doggo... humans suck

my doggy always makes me feel better and always trusts me and loves me and every morning i wake up with her either cuddled up to me or her head on my throat/chest as she cant be without me and a blanket... when i come home she legit has a smile on her face with her tail wagging and gives nothing but kisses and love.... when i was in the hospital for 7 days with blood clots its the first time i was away from her for more than a day... i got told she was heart broken... when i got home and she seen me walking up to the house as she waited by the window she started shaking and crying like nothing i had ever seen and since she does not leave my side ever..... id take a bullet for her in a heart beat so your damn right i choose her over humans.
