I think Ruggs is the best match for us but I think he's more like Tyreek Hill than Percy. His speed over the top will really help fill the void left by Diggs. Kirk is also very good throwing the deep ball. Match that up with our run game and Thielen opposite him we could field an exciting offense again.

I am not sure about this but obviously if they see a talent they love/that's worth it go for it. We have seemed better at drafting later on recently with WR but each draft is different.

It is interesting to think we may end up overall adding draft capital on top of Diggs in order to take a shot on a rookie WR.

doesn't. make sense to trace up for a top qb after extending kirk...unless they think he'd be tradeable next spring

I still don't really get the hype on Tua...josh Jacobs, Juedy, and ruggs kinda made it easier to look good, yes?

re we tho....i still like Mims re guys we'd. not have to trade up for
    gotta love 'referential' treatment

I don't think we'll be trading up for a QB but what about staying where we are and drafting one? Jordan Love anyone? One more year of Kirk and then this kid? Can't we get out of a ton of money after this season if we'd cut Cousins? Is it me or does it seem like successful young QBs sit for at least a year?

    Minnesota Vikings 2020 Draft Thread

The more I think about Henry Ruggs in this offense the more I love it. 4.27 speed and the dude can jump out of the building. Considering how effective Diggs was on deep balls last year, Ruggs has the speed to be just as good. Plus, also considering how we under utilized Diggs, we wouldnít need Ruggs to have a full time role right away. If we improve the OL and can truly develop a dominant ground game, Ruggs has the ability to really open up the offense. Defenses are forced to choose between playing their safeties closer to the line and risking getting beat deep or they their safeties deep and Cook has more room in the open field where he is dangerous. Plus, guys like Thielen, Rudy, and Irv Smith would have more room to work the middle of the field. Ruggs reminds me of Santana Moss.

Imagine if we acquired Trent Williams and then drafted Ruggs and a starting caliber guard.

If the Vikings cut Cousins before 2021 theyíll be on the hook for 41 million in dead money. The way heís leaving Minnesota anytime soon is by trade.

Assuming we get Trent Williams for Reiff + 3rd, hereís a perfect mock draft addressing all of our needs:

    Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 22: Henry Ruggs, WR, Alabama (A)
Round 2 Pick 20 (LAR): Marlon Davidson, DE, Auburn (A-)
Round 2 Pick 26: Shane Lemieux, OG, Oregon (A)
Round 2 Pick 31 (K.C.): Cameron Dantzler, CB, Mississippi State (A)
Round 3 Pick 1 (CINN): Antoine Winfield Jr., FS/SS, Minnesota (A)
Round 3 Pick 20 (LAR): Davon Hamilton, DT, Ohio State (A+)
Round 3 Pick 21 (DET): Jordyn Brooks, ILB, Texas Tech (A)
Round 3 Pick 28 (BALT): Jabari Zuniga, DE/OLB, Florida (A-)
Round 3 Pick 41 (COMP): Bryan Edwards, WR, South Carolina (A+)
Round 4 Pick 23 (BALT): Jeremy Chinn, FS/SS, Southern Illinois (A)
Round 4 Pick 26: Ben Bartch, OT, St. John's (A+)
Round 6 Pick 2 (DEN): Jake Luton, QB, Oregon State (A+)
Round 6 Pick 18 (IND): John Reid, CB, Penn State (B+)
Round 6 Pick 22: Jeff Thomas, WR, Miami (A+)
Round 6 Pick 26: Benito Jones, DT, Mississippi (A+)
Round 7 Pick 5: Jared Pinkney, TE, Vanderbilt (A+)
Round 7 Pick 35 (COMP): Kenny Robinson, FS/SS, West Virginia (A)
Round 7 Pick 39 (COMP): Parnell Motley, CB, Oklahoma (A-)

Canít highlight all the picks but my 5 favorites have to be Ruggs (pray he falls to us), Bryan Edwards (most underrated WR in the class), Marlon Davidson (rare DE talent with strength and speed), Shane Lemieux (perfect guard for our zone blocking scheme), and Jeff Thomas (reminds me of Tyreek Hill). Really hope we get these guys. 🙏

Been reading medicals/injury history are going to be even more prominent this year because teams can't do checks up prior to the draft. Read players like Netane Muti and Antoine Winfield are going to drop.

This is really going to be the year that it shows which teams has a good scouting department lol. Might actually be good though because now teams have to rely on tape more than anything.

    58. CB Cameron Dantzler, Miss. State
    89. EDGE Jabari Zuniga, Florida
    105. WR Isaiah Hodgins, Oregon State

That draft in a lot of ways looked as far from what I'd expect as any Kiper/McShay mock I've seen...going CB/WR in the first I can see, I just doubt we'd take Jefferson at 22 OR Diggs at 25...just like his insistence that Herbert will drop because Love will be the 4th QB taken (tho it is freaky to think either Love or Herbert could end up following Brady in New England)
    gotta love 'referential' treatment

Why don't you think we'll take Jefferson at 22? He's one of the best fits at receiver for this team. I can easily see the team waiting to take a receiver in the 2nd round but if we stay at 22 Jefferson is a great pick.

I don't think we take Diggs either. Not necessarily because of Stefon but because I don't think he's that good. I think he's more of a 2nd round talent. Give me Gladney or Terrell over him.

I don't know, I think I read something with Jefferson like he's not very physical, doesn't make contested catches, that kinda thing. I don't know enough to have a problem with it....I just prefer Mims at 25 if we go WR in the 1st.

but then what do I know, I thought Tarvaris Jackson could be a good QB and that Treadwell would be a stud by now
    gotta love 'referential' treatment
