Ya you'd think he would be the perfect 1 year vet minimum. He's not a guy you want starting but he is someone thats been around for a while and won't completely tank.

Dre played under Zim for a couple years....so they know each other...would seem a good fit for both sides depending on his financial expectations

I don't wish X ill, but how quickly he went from being a guy we expected to be our #1 for years....to the below being a far too common thing

He fell off way faster than anyone thought he would. We kept waiting for him to be back but those nagging injuries, always to the legs, seemed to have caught up.

Wow that's interesting. You have to think they may want to move him since he's in the last year of his contract and he'll get a nice payday.

I honestly believe some of those injuries were more to his psyche than his body...as rules became even more in favor of the receiver, he was simply getting beat more often and sometimes he acted frustrated, sometimes he acted hurt...and sometimes he wasn't acting.

Given we tried to re-sign him (who knows how hard or for how much) Zimmer must have still been willing to work with him.

also the ever changing pi penaltys took a toll on him.

    Try an Envy apple sometime

There'd be worse ideas than signing Eli...since consistency has been his knock more than ability, maybe Zim can get top 10 overall pick talent out of him

This is just a guess but I'm thinking their will end up being almost a second free agency period. There is still quite a bit of talented players left on the market but I'm thinking teams want to bring these guys in for a visit first before committing to anything. So once guys are able to make team visits I think we'll see another wave of free agents sign.
    2020 Vikings Draft:
    1: Justin Jefferson WR LSU
    1: Jeff Gladney CB TCU
2: Ezra Cleveland OT Boise State
3: Cameron Dantzler CB Mississippi State
4: D.J. Wonnum DE South Carolina
    4: James Lynch DT Baylor
    4: Troy Dye LB Oregon
    5: Harrison Hand CB Temple
    5: K.J. Osborn WR Miami
6: Blake Brandel OT Oregon State
    6: Josh Metellus S Michigan
7: Kenny Willekes DE Michigan State
    7: Nate Stanley QB Iowa
7: Brian Cole S Mississippi State
    7: Kyle Hinton G Washburn

That's somewhat true every year...FA signings before the draft, FA signings after the draft...and a 3rd one after preseason cuts...difference this year is the talent level still unsigned after the draft
