Panthers to hire Matt Rhule as HC

I guess he was the giants top option, now they will turn their attention to Jason Garrett

    Really did not expect this...

Wonder if some of that smoke of the organizational issues drove him away from NY or potentially he doesn't believe in Danny Jones

I was wanting Beineimy (sp), but this is fine I guess. Probably high risk high reward, but he's been super impressive with two bad football programs without having time to rely on recruits.

Looks like he called NYG to get them to match/convince him to come and NYG declined.

Doesn't appear that way. Giants apparently canceled interview with him and started working on hiring Judge yesterday. If reports are true.

I don't think he's a bust. I think he just needs the right motivation to pick himself up & play harder.

Wow that's a big commitment to a guy with no NFL experience. But if he is who they wanted then I guess that's what they felt they had to do to lock him up.

He was definitely impressive in college.

Could blow up in their faces, but this is generally what you want in a new coaching hire when things have gone stagnant. Swing for the fences and see what happens.

Turns out the Giants were already signing Joe Judge and had told Matt he wasn't getting the job. Oops.

He was an assistant OL coach for Coughlin on the Giants in 2012.
