Yes, it would especially if you're talking about being a division winner.

A 10-6 team would not be a divisional contender if they are not in the running for it in the end.

Its not about them being a good team, but the best team in their division.

I understand what you're going for but teams 3 and 4 games back are not real contenders for thwir division

How do you actually believe Clay was heavily favored by saying he only wins if they're 1 game back AND hold the tiebreaker with one game to play? How many years in a row were we eliminated from division title contention prior to week 16? Like, 10?
    Math

If a team is 2 games back after week 15, they can still finish up to 4 games behind the division winner.
That silly bet would call that team a contender.

If a trailing team isn't playing for a piece of the pie at the end, then they are not divisional contenders.

When we talk about the Jets being a divisional contender we talk about them winning the division or being competitive until the end, not being good enough to be eliminated before week 17.

    Pff nyJets

Only two pairs of interior defensive linemen charted 80.0+ run defense grades in 2019:

-Aaron Donald and Michael Brockers (LAR)
-Steve McLendon and Folorunso Fatukasi (NYJ)

I was thinking the same, since its on a scale there shouldnt be any hold up especially with the later rounds. I know the first round guys try to manipulate a few things.

There's no rush to bring them into camp.
Under "normal" circumstances, you'd have to believe Joe D would have them signed already.

Fair point. I guess they can take a bit more time without the media creating drama.

    This is the Jets.
The media will find a reason to make drama, even if there is none.

Y'know, the Jets have a significant amount if cap space now and although I believe they may sign a vet backup WR/OL (similar to Demarius Thomas), I think they should rollover as much as possible for next year.
With all the 1 year deals, it would allow greater flexibility to maneuver, as some teams will be crunched by the cap, especially if it goes down next year.
We would be in position to reap the benefits.
