Cubs all decade team.. 2010 to 2019

Saw this , figured we could all give our choices..

    C. Contreras
    1B. Rizzo
    2B. Baez
    SS. Castro
    3B. Bryant
    LF. Soriano
    CF. Fowler
    RF. Heyward

    C.Castillo
    IF. Ramirez
    IF/OF Zobrist
    OF. Schwarber
    OF. Coghlan

    SP. Lester
    SP. Arrieta
    SP. Hendricks
    SP. Dempster
    SP. Zambrano

    Rel. S. Marshall
    Rel. Strop
    Rel. J. Russell
    Rel. T.Wood
    Rel. CJ Edwards
    Rel. Marmol
    Clo. Rondon

Offense, they had crap the first 5 years..

    SP was pretty easy..

Bullpen, CJ and Marmol had a couple good years before they fell apart, and I chose Rondon as the closer because he was the only one who closed for multiple years and also was good in the pen..

Chapman Davis Morrow were all 1 and done

    Needs more LaHair.

Is Chris Coghlan seriously one of the 5 best outfielders the Cubs has this decade? Iím blanking on some names right now, but that canít be right.

    Lol..

For players with multiple years, he was the best I found with some consistencies , but he was my choice, I'm sure others may be different..

Those first 5 years though , were really really bad

So in terms of fWAR, Coghlan is actually 4th among OF (not counting KB and Zobrist). So you are right. If anything you are selling him short here. He had more fWAR than Heyward in about half the PAs. Chris Coghlan, one of the 5 best Cubs OF of the decade. I didnít expect that to be true. Pretty sad.

It is sad. That said those two years he was a pretty good role player. Both years of wRC+ over 113.

Wish we had a bench like that today.

I was seriously considering putting him as a starter for RF

Lackey should probably be on this list. Certainly take him over choke artist Dempster.

Dempster pitched 521 innings with the cubs this decade with a 3.90 ERA/3.72 xFIP and 7 WAR

    Lackey pitched 359 innings with a 3.94 ERA/4.19xFIP and 3.4 WAR

I mean it's not even like Lackey was a great postseason pitcher with the Cubs. 4.85 ERA in 2016. 9.82 ERA in 2017.

If i'm replacing Dempster it's going to be with Garza or Q.

I honestly didn't even look that closely at the numbers. I'd take Garza over him though. He completely escaped my mind.
