If Trent averages like 20 ppg I would sign him to like $15 mil a year.

    27 vs 22 years old.
Trent Jr is a better defender (Norm is clearly better on the offensive end though).
Trent is RFA in off-season (can match any offer)
His cap hold is 2.1 million, meaning we could use cap space to sign someone else first and then exceed the cap to re-up Trent. (Norm's cap hold is like 16 million by contrast).
Trent Jr probably will cost less in the off-season than Powell.

Overall, I think it is mostly about managing the cap situation so they have more options this summer to reshape the team. Technically they could still sign Norm this summer, without giving up Trent's bird rights and then sign Trent to exceed the cap.

I don't know, I think it was a late trade...I think they moved Thomas and Davis to open up roster space for the Lowry deal that was coming.....

I think you are right on all accounts.......Its the Rodney Hood piece that doesn't make sense to me. I guess they really liked Trent Jr's defense. I just don't like Hoods contract next season for 10M

    YEAH BABY!!!!!

Now we still have our normal starting 5 , we still got a guy in Trent Jr who can play the 2 or the 3, and we have have gained some draft capital to help long term. Including a second pick in this years draft where some real value looks like it could be found.
