And thus that experiment is over...
We’re pointing out that these statistics breed false narratives, and we value the truth. This isn’t about replacing old numbers with new numbers, or attempting to dissuade anyone from enjoying the aesthetics of the game. It is simply about telling the average fan about the reality of what actually happened on the field. The “Holy Trinity” of baseball statistics fail at this most basic task, and so they are not worth deifying any longer. - Dave Cameron

Probably the worst signing in team history. He never made sense to sign for as much as he got. It was a near certainty he’d underperform his deal even if he was healthy. And there was plenty of reason to predict he wouldn’t stay healthy anyway.

Flo is still young and his tools rate very high. He may flame out but there is still potential. So I get that move.

**** big bird. Guys made of glass balls. Although, they may re-sign him, if he wants to.

I don't think he's a bust. I think he just needs the right motivation to pick himself up & play harder.

I personally think Ellsbury is a major reason behind why the Yankees haven't been in on many long term deals.

I wonder if they'll try to bring Bird back on Minor league deal

Ells I’m actually ok with him not being on the roster. He’s been a huge disappointment. Money roster spot or whatever just leave you made your money.

Since the insurance didn't cover this yr there was absolutely no reason to keep him. Too bad the money still counts towards the luxury tax.. has to go down as the worst Fa signing 4 us I can remember, even worse than Pavano.
I never understood why they signed him to begin with.
Basically was an older version of Slappy for 3 times the money. Signing a speed guy with a contract that last well into his late 30s with a sketchy injury history was I'll advised at best.

Robbie was pretty much set to resign for 7/175 but Levine talked Hal into signing Jake first. I always wondered what Levine had on Hal and Cash to get them to agree to sign Jake for that kinda money. Atleast we dont hear much about Levine being a deciding factor in personal decisions anymore

The worst are Igewa and Carl Pavano.

At least Ells gave the Yankees some value for 4 years, not a lot but some...The others two gave the Yankees virtually NOTHING.

He was a huge risk even before Randy Levine lobbied Hal to sign him to replace Cano to calm the waters after Cano was ignored.

And BigMike is in the same shoes. He is another waste of money.

28 continues to defend his *** with his 2017 and 2018 season of games close to 162.....

What about the others? Hey 28, The other seasons are the NORM!

Mike must somehow be jettisoned out of NY or we will be having the same conversations from year to year with him as being one of the worst Yankees with a huge contract.

All he did was collect $26 million for doing nothing in 2019.

Look at Kei Igewa and Carl Pavano...they were worse. Ells gave us 4 years of something.

You have to use value not just dollar figures...
