Todd Gurley III - What do the Rams KNEED to do?

    See what I did there?

McVay, the boy wonder, says it's just how the workload is landing with Gurley being seldom used.

Is it the knees? Did time catch up with his workload. Did the Rams offensive mastermind just forget how to use him? All of the above?

Hes one of the best RBs weve seen in a while - has to be the knee as far as why hes playing so little. Cant imagine itd be anything else.

Give the ball to the human first down.

The Rams have a lead on average for 29:23 minutes per game (#9), and have the ball for 12:09 minutes of that lead time (#10).

They should be running the ball more, probably, to get that time of possession with a lead stat up.

Given that they aren't, that probably means McVay is trying to play 4D chess, or they don't want people to know that Gurley is shot. Having people still fear that Gurley could take off at any time keeps the D from focusing on Goff, which is the weak point of the offense.

(also some super cool stats buried in there, like the fact that the Broncos are #11 in the league for time leading in a game. Or that the Giants and Atlanta spend more time behind than Miami.)

Philly is #30th in time of possession with a lead, despite being #5th in total time of possession. Tampa and Jax both are in the top 10 in time of possession as well.

I think he has arthritis in his knees.

I'd imagine that it's due to the knee..but I didn't expect it to be this shot so soon. I think it made sense to reduce his overall touches on the season, but they've been dramatically reduced.

They barely use him as a receiver out of the backfield anymore where he's been a monster in the open field in the past..which is also weird because that likely would reduce the wear and tear on him between the tackles.

Another MASSIVE issue for the Rams is the offensive line..they simply haven't invested enough. Getting Whitworth was a fantastic move, but he's also 37 years old.

It's almost like when we had 3 backup CBs starting, teams scored on us very quickly.

Ran into one of the top 5 defenses. This was the first time in about a year they were held without an offensive TD.

I'm talking all season though. Last year they were an offensive juggernaut. This year doesn't seem that way at all. Goff regressing and Gurley barely playing doesn't help.

The entire offense is built off of the run game. The OL stinks and their stud RB isn't himself and plays a lesser role. Goff is good when you keep him clean and define his reads. When you're not running it effectively and your OL regressed, you arent going to be able to keep him clean.
