    I get not allowing someone to be given money to help "convince" them to attend whatever school, but what they do in their personal time shouldn't matter imo.
    Right now they can't. When CA said they were going to allow pay for college players, the NCAA started talking about players making money off their likeness as long as it wasn't related to the sport- i.e. if a football player has a video game YouTube channel, that would be OK, but an autograph signing would not.

    The NCAA is going to fight and scrap for every bit to avoid paying the players. If enough deep recruiting states follow California in wanting to compensate players, they won't have a choice here.

    If the NCAA doesn't want to pay them, then the players should at least be allowed to make money off themselves thru other means.

    the insane part is that the upcoming rule changes will make this obsolete. and it was a symbolic suspension, for the most part. rutgers and maryland? come on. people said it cost him the heisman, but he wasnt going to win it. he probably should... the kid is easily the best player in the country. but the lsu kid won that against alabama.
