No way in the 6-8 range we're projected.

BUT . . . If we were hellbent on drafting him, I'd be interested in swapping our pick (plus filler) with a team in the 12-17 range for a player. Some interesting options:

    Spurs #11 and Derrick White
    Pelicans #12 and Lonzo Ball
    Kings #13 and Buddy Hield
TWolves #17 and Malik Beasley (sign and trade)

I think he's primarily a PG at the next level.

at #8 it may come down to Maxey or Cole anyway so take who you think is best.

He's definitely not a PG. Maybe nominally. He hasn't shown much playmaking skills.

If those are our choices, we absolutely need to trade back.

Speaking of trading back. I wonder if the Knicks finish higher than the Timberwolves in the lottery, if they could trade down and get Minnys second pick. Knicks would also include the Clippers pick in the deal.

Maxey is an undersized 2 guard

Derrick white is interesting ina trade back, but this is the spurs they won't do that. They will just stand at 11 or wherever and draft a really good player.

I'd rather trade back for kira lewis if it came down to that

If we move ahead of the Timberwolves, we're in the top 4. That means we're in a very good position to draft one of LaMelo, Edwards or Deni, or to easily trade up for LaMelo.

I'm not sure why we'd pass that up to pick up another pick at #17 in a weak draft.

Maxey played with 2 other PGs so he played more off-ball than he was used to playing. Hes a difficult prospect to get a read on. He is a good defender and he has some good overall scoring ability. It really comes down to whether you believe in his shot long term.

I'd keep the pick if it was LaMelo or Deni. Otherwise, I move down.

Yeah.. I'm not a Maxey guy.

And we need to be careful about overvaluing guys out of position.

    ---
We need a pg first, a stretch 4 THAT REBOUNDS 2nd...and a sg third.

    Pg.. Draft.. Ball, Kira

Pf... Rfa, Wood...Knox {1solid year of development} ** honestly I would like to trade up from that Dallas lot to around 20 and take Jaylon Smith out of Maryland. I think he's going to be a really good player in the league**

    Sg... FA, Harris. Dotson.

Backup 5...any athletic 6'11 guy that plays both ends.
    __
Win 36 games... Draft in Lotto again.. Take 1 real solid year to develop 2 or 3 bench guys in G league. Next year really hit ground running.

Umm I like Harper, he was a better Gleague player than Fred VanVleet that many here want to give 20 mil per and I think Harper will be a spark plug off the bench but he ain't Kira Lewis who is the fastest player in the draft. Shot great from 3 and is a good passer and defender at 6'3" which is nice size for a PG. Thibs loves speedy PGs
