If that meant keeping Dizzle or signing a premium reliever, that may have been a better lineup overall.

With hicks out , the only center fielder the yanks would have is tauchman. They needed gardener to be hicks back up with tauchman as the 4th outfielder . Frazier is only a corner outfielder .

Judge can play there as a backup easily.

Judge is not a center fielder , he is a right fielder .

Florial needs to be addressed. Either bring him up or start shopping a package with him, especially since apparently Brett will be here until he is 42.

    Tmml.

And I agree....but we have plenty right here (assuming Hicks isn’t Jake)

    Judge
    Mike
    Ginja Ninja
    Talk Man
    TWizzle
    Slappy

I mean.....what else do we need? These 6 pro athletes can’t handle 3 spots?

you would wear judge out in center plus tauchman would be much better in center then judge.. plus you lose judge arm in right where he can throw out runners or prevent them from taking a extra base..

If not where exactly is the ambiguity? Clearly, at the time Yanks needed a 4th OF. Imo he is more than capable in that role. The import only increased with Hicks injury. Did they over pay? Probably. But his numbers support the salary. He proved more than capable in LF and CF.

I may be alone in my thinking, but veteran leadership has value, particularly on a young team. Who is left from the '09 championship team?
    He is the only one.

    Correct.

I'm not suggesting that alone justifies the salary, but it does have value. Young players look to veteran experience for guidance and insight. Managers and coaches expect vets to lead by example. New Royals manager Mike Matheny recently commented on the leadership qualities of both catcher Salvador Perez and left fielder Alex Gordon as being a managers dream.

Florial can't have much value more than a lottery 3rd piece type of guy in a package.

Honest question. What is it offensively that you think Didi does that Gardner doesnt?

Didi has hit for a slightly better average, Gardner gets on base more, Didi has a little more power, Gardner has more speed.

I'd say they're quote equal in terms of offense.

And I think Gardner is easily the better defensive player.

I was unaware of how much the Twins added.

They are pretty loaded. While we always beat them, they are incredibly dangerous if you ask me.
