    The trick is to call someone out whenever they hedge a bet that way. Saying there is an 80 percent chance that someone won't get fired is meaningless because getting fired or not fired is a singular event.

    But Dug knew that. He just didn't want to be cornered into offering an opinion that could later be determined to have been right or wrong. Very clever.
