If the White Sox do some damage this year old school La Russa could change things league wide or at least raise some eye brows. I think they are going to be fund to watch.

Iíve seen that happen in the NBA and everyone hates it.

Got the Royals a WS in 2015 and got the Rays to the WS last year.

As for the NBA, that's load management and it got us a championship in 2019.

Seems like it works. Not as good as cheating (Astros and Red Sox), but the next best thing (other than over spending everyone like the Dodgers).

It also may have caused the Rays the WS. I get the reasoning behind it and I'm fine with it in certain scenarios but pulling Snell was a terrible move

Not disagreeing it has to be a premier BP to win a WS, however, it was the Jays RP pitchers that carried them to the WC, and the Rays SP/BP philosophy to win the AL EAst and head to the WS in 2020.

Maybe, but playing the what ifs, the Dodgers shouldn't have lost game 4 and should have won in 5 had it not been for their BP in game 4.

Regardless, it was the Rays SP/BP philosophy that won them the AL East and got them to the WS. 1) If you buy into a system and it has worked for you, you don't change it. 2) Last year Snell wasn't lights out and was averaging less than 4.2 innings with the highest FIP of his career (I'm not sure a) the manager or b) the GM that uses data risks it). 3) Hindsight is not an in game strategy.

They just sit guys out for the whole game in the NBA though.

That has seemed like his first choice, so not overly surprising. Hopefully he made Yankees pay up in in the contract.

Imo it would be silly to assume our BP would have continued to perform over 162 with that kind of load.
Glad they were able to do it for a few months though.

Two more targets off the board. DJ finalizing a deal with the Yanks. Hand finalizing a deal to go to the Mets.

Don't think they could have done it for longer either. But I didn't think the Rays BP could have done what they did with so many being traded before the season, and a boatload of others hitting the IL for injury or Covid, somehow the Rays always manage to get it done.
