Yeah Media seems pretty high on the team since adding some lefties. Should be an interesting season.

Interesting read! Good to see the Jays getting love from ESPN, with a decent overview of their line-up. Yankees down to 10, and I was surprised to see the Rays at 12, would've thought they'd be lower, (without really considering their line-up). 6/10 were NL teams so found that interesting and there's some pretty stacked line-ups in the NL. San Diego #1, St.Louis #2, Atlanta #3 all ahead of the Dodgers, (#6), Mets at #8 and Phillies at #9. Thought the Phillies would be higher.

Spring training just around the corner, Jays pitchers and catchers report Feb. 16, position players Feb. 21.

People actually pay attention to these rankings?

ESPN 2022 rankings had the Rays #1 and he White Sox #2.

It's a different list than the 2022 one you cited. That was power rankings based on opinions and this list is line up rankings based on park neutral runs.

fair enough , I saw you mentioned offensive rankings so thought it was similar. They are fun reads that's about it. What was last years list?

Unless they define how they come up with these rankings to me they are essentially the same

    lineup rankings = power rankings

and checking the 2022 power rankings they were way off on many teams, they had us 2nd

If google it, it'll explain how rankings are calculated, it really has no correlation to offensive rankings. Apples and oranges

So you think only a teams lineup contributes to wins?

I'm not saying anything about the specific rankings other than if you look back at previous ones they are off and sometimes way off

    I had to read a bit more on them;

The power rankings are just writers votes with input from from vaious "experts" - what they use as a basis for how they vote isn't mentioned.

The lineup rankings article that powers posted was a little different in that they uses certain offensevie stats to come up with a ranking, looks a little complicated to me and not worth looking at it further.

Chad Green coming to Toronto. One of the reasons NY got off to such a hot start was that nasty bullpen. He was a big part of it before Tommy John. Hopefully he recovers well. Only 2.25 million this year. Jays have club option to keep him for 3 years, 27 million after this season

I like how they did the contract a lot too. Low risk, high reward IMO.

The other side I didn’t mention is that if the Jays decline to team option, Green gets a 1 year, 6 million dollar player option. So if there are issues in recovery or performance, he has some financial security beyond this season. Not a huge risk IMO.

    Funky contract. Could become:

4 years around 30 million (Jays pick up team option)
1 year, 2.25 million (both parties decline options)
2 years 8.5 million (Jays decline team option, but Green picks up player option).
