Trying to make major changes to the game is what will cause this work stoppage to be drug out into the season. Baseball players should just be happy there is no cap and sign the deal.
This. Think about the money being handed out this offseason. It's mind-boggling. MLB gives out the best pay in sports and the health risks are negligible compared to NHL or NFL.

The NBA has bigger salaries per player.

And they should! One player can dominate the game, and they have rosters of only 15 players. MLB on the other hand employs a small city worth of ppl if you include the minors.

But yeah MLB contracts are silly imo. Yes itís a lot of games, but the health risks are so negligible. Most of baseballs injuries are self inflicted.

Roster size is a huge difference. And obviously revenues vs the NHL. But 15 NBA players make more than $40 AAV. And two are even over $50.

But can those players sign deals worth well over 400 million guaranteed like Mike Trout?

In fact, 16 of the 20 largest deals of all time are baseball contracts. The only non baseball players in the too 20 are Josh Allen, Mahones, Canelo Alvarez's 73M/yr deal with DAZN and the grand daddy of them all....Lionel Messi. Nothing touches Messi's Barcelona deal that was 4 Years/$674M dollars. A ridiculous 168.5M per season!!

No. Because they have term limits. But 5/250 looks prettty good.

MLB has more guaranteed years but NBA AAV tops. For both role players and starts. And given they play less games, it is much better.

of course it does.....but I would still take the larger guarantee. So 350+ Million looks even better. I know it isn't the highest possible amount one could make if they stay elite for a long period of time, but no one in my family would ever have to work again.....like ever. That's good enough for me..haha

I read it as the other way. The Brewers made the ask and we turned them down.

I would have made it to save the extra year. But I would have preferred a pitcher instead.

Apparently we are ready to break out the bank after the lockout. Though most of the FA already signed.

    Wonder if that implies Correa.
