    Funky contract. Could become:

4 years around 30 million (Jays pick up team option)
1 year, 2.25 million (both parties decline options)
2 years 8.5 million (Jays decline team option, but Green picks up player option).
It’s really an awesome contract I give atkins credit for this.

Yes, and leaves Mayza as the only lefty on the 40. Strange move.

Love the high upside signing with Green.

Hopefully gage clears waivers and goes to AAA. I’m not sure what they see in thornton at this point. Emergency spot starter? Long man in pen? Really replaceable.
At least Cimber is good against lefties as is Green. And Richards has reverse splits.

Only negative in this deal is that is makes it harder to get back under the cap next season as we will be committing prob 9m to Green in 2024. I think that only leaves like 10m to spend on LF going into 2024. And 3b if barger flops.

I think Chapman is now off the table for an extension. Probably Jansen as well but perhaps not

I agree with the bolded. I would prefer Gage on the roster than Thornton too.

Regarding next season's budget - we have no idea what the budget will be do we?

No idea what the budget is but based on this off-season (and possible deadline moves), it would seem to indicate it will be over 226m as that will be the 2024 CBT (first) threshold.
    That is great news.
There is still a pathway to get below it with the current roster If they are concerned with getting under it to reset the clock on payments rather than be 2nd year offenders and be taxed as such.
All signings from now until then would need to be 1 year contracts and a cheapish LF option would need used in LF, barger to 3b and belt not signed (internal/ current options to be used at dh).
Team is stocked. I’m not complaining. Just sign grossman and we have a hell of a deep team.

Makes sense and yeah pretty capped out. This team better make some noise. This looks like atkins version of a finished product. The window is closing on splashy FA. We are entering “sustain” mode.
    This is it boys.

I’m surprisingly optimistic about this team, but I still feel varsho is the main swing piece. He could be 10 war, he could be 3. That’s a huge difference in the end standings.

Still surprised at not signing a better 5th starter. Not much in aaa as options either as I don’t think Pearson or Zulu will be legit sp.
Leaves Bowden Francis as the back up plan to start the year?

I guess hoping to just through June-ish with Dragon coming up at that time and ryu back for aug sept in an ideal scenario.
    Patchwork.

Reasonable as long as berrios bounces back.
