I cannot see the Cubs moving their best defensive infielder to another position, only to replace him with a guy who is far inferior to him at that position. If the Cubs show no interest in Rendon, I have to think that Bryant is staying due to position scarcity. Contreras, on the other hand, would seemingly be expendable with the depth they have at catcher. The front office loves Willson, but he is likely the Cubs most trade-able and replace-able asset, due to their depth and incoming talent at that position.

I dont know if hes anything like Fukudome, but a player who could get on base like Fukudome and play good CF defense is exactly what they could use.

No. BR has him listed wrong. His NPB page has him at 184 cm. That's 6"0.

Fukudome was a fine player. He wasn't a transcended star, but he was a capable MLB hitter for a few years.

If this guy can get on base for a few years and be a good defender, he'd be useful. Not sure much about him outside of this list.

On surface seems interesting on a short term deal since he is 32 and unproven at this level.

I know the first line says plus contact tool but any numbers ?

He Kd 15.9% last year. No idea what his contact rate is, but its probably not bad and not elite. 11.5% walk rate last year. The league average K rate in the Japan Pacific League was 19.5%.

Now that I thought about it some more if they can pull off a Fried deal I think they can get Rendon and sign NC.

If they trade trade KB / WC / Q / DD that would leave them with around 58 to play with . I think Rendon and NC would take around 48.

They would need to fill a couple of pen spots / bench spots but if they are creative I think it can be done.

The 5th spot would go to Chatwood or minor leaguer but remember that a Bryant trade most likely helps fill several of those holes. I think its possible . With Donaldson in instead of Rendon obviously they are not as tight with money . Instead of having around 10 after signing a 3B and NC they would have like 17 to work with .This if they stay in the same range as this year.

Caratini would be your everyday catcher however.

It would be crazy if Houston and LA lose their game 5.

I'm calling it now; Stras goes for the CG SHO tomorrow but the Astros win their game 5.
