I can only hope that he's not a perennial playoff choker as well.

Is it safe to say that Farhan's philosophy in year 1 was to throw darts at a dart board and see what sticks?

The sheer volume of transactions of players that did next to nothing for the team, in the hopes of building organizational depth.

I haven't been impressed with his first draft, his international signing was more on quantity rather than quality, and the trade deadline brought about essentially Dubon and Teng. The rest aren't expected to contribute much if at all.

Beck did pitch better for SJ than when he was with the Braves, but he's not considered anything substantial.
It's time to start winning right?

    Playoffs and Championship droughts...

SF 49ers - 5 years no playoffs, 24 years no championship
LA Lakers - 6 years no playoffs, 9 years no championship
LA Kings - 1 year no playoffs, 5 years no championship
SF Giants - 2 years no playoffs, 5 years no championship

Better than sitting on your hands and reminiscing about the good 'ole days.

Yeah, give me a bunch of trades trying to find decent players and dumping them once it's obvious they're not that good over signing vets 5 years past their prime any day.

General Manager - Scott Harris (Formerly Ast. GM of the Cubs)
Manager - Gabe Kepler (Formerly of the Phillies Manager)

I really think with the report that came in yesterday about the Astros stealing signs, may have turned off the Giants from hiring Joe Espada.

It be real interesting to see who they sign and trade in free agency.

That's exactly what it did. It found depth. Depth has been an issue for years. Yaz, Dubon, Rogers, Pillar, Solano should all make the Opening Day roster. They're by no means sexy moves, but they fill important needs.

Considering the whole Kapler fiasco in 2015, I don't think the stealing signs thing had anything to do with their decision of not naming Espada the manager.

This is true, but it might prevent them from hiring Espada as a bench coach. Of course, it's no guarantee Espada would have left Houston to get a lateral job in SF. But, one of the sf reporters did say that Giants could possibly hire 2 of the 3 candidates.

Will Smith to the Braves for three-years, $39M and the Giants' comp pick.

His agent used the QO as leverage saying teams needed a deal by today's deadline or Smith was going to accept the QO.
