Will Smith's agent is the true MVP. I suppose Smith would have been a nice trade deadline asset, but I'll take the guaranteed draft pick.

    Fire Luke Walton

Too bad he couldn't have pushed the Braves to give him $50MM guaranteed or more.

Smith is obviously very good, but I will take the pick too. He seemed to fade a bit in the second half and im not sure he is capable of the heavy usage you'd ideally want out of someone you're paying 13 mil a year for.

Realistically I think 2021 may be the earliest we contend for the playoffs anyways so no point in paying a reliever 39 mil when you're not a contender.

Having him accept the QO and then trading him before the deadline would have been just fine too.

Could be since he's the only one with closer's experience. Maybe Rogers or Moronta are options too?

Moronta out until August last I heard but otherwise would def be in the mix to start the season. I wouldn't expect Rogers to grab the job but you never know.

Oh ****. Didn't know Moronta was out that long. Totally forgot it was a labrum tear too.

So with Will Smith gone. And only other option that has experience is Watson. It makes me wonder if the Giants won't take a flier on projects like -
    Arodys Vizcaino
    Tyler Thornburg
    Trevor Rosenthal
    Dellin Betances

I don't mind taking on projects like these and with a Ballpark like Oracle most of these pitchers could thrive and become legit.

On ESPN (Depth Chart), Shaun Anderson is considered to be the closer (Tyler Rogers, Jandel Gustave, Sam Coonrod, Trevor Gott, Burch Smith are next in line).

In all seriousness though I can see them trying someone like Beede at closer. They like his stuff and may try some way to use him as something other than a starter.

Maybe Anderson. I think Beede will have a fairly lengthy leash in the rotation next season.

I'd be surprised if he was in the rotation to the start the year.
