Slightly more per year than I thought he would get but not a bad deal. I think this puts pressure on Atlanta to get a deal done with Donaldson or to make a move to get a corner OF bat.

David O'Brien suggested that the Braves possibly weren't comfortable with Culberson or Camargo as the backup SS and want a better option there. The Reds have non-tendered Jose Peraza. He's a player who could be a fit for the Braves as a utility infielder.

Well with Moose to the Reds the Braves better pay up for Donaldson if they don't want 3rd base to be a weakness.

Maybe the Reds make Suarez available for trade but I doubt it. Moose will likely just play 2nd for them.

They already said he will play 2nd base for them. Reds are trying to win now so they are spending, they won't be dealing good players.

Moose at 16M a year was well over his projection, 3 times over some I saw so he got paid well.

MLBTR has Moose at 2/20, so 4/64 is a pretty big number. Especially for a guy who was having a hard time getting a multi year deal the last few years.

Also, anyone who suggests Peraza is better at SS than Camargo is crazy. Peraza’s defense barely played at 2B.

This does make the 3B market a little rough. Donaldson can easily push for 3/75 or 4/100 I think. ATL may need to explore 3B trade options. Maybe Bryant isn’t a terrible idea...

Also, I think non-tendering Culberson shows the Camargo is the main UTIL man moving forward. Culberson had 144 ABs last year and there was not a huge role for him with a deepening bench.

Yeah, with holes we needing to fill, I don’t see the Braves signing him for that...

I wouldn’t got yo 4yrs and 100 mil for Donaldson.

Intentional talk is predicting Mad Bum to SD for 4yrs 85 Mil. I also would not go 4 yrs on Mad Bum. Not saying that’d be horrible or anything, I just wouldn’t do it.

I wouldn’t do 4 for 100 either. I’m cool with giving him whatever he wants on a 3 year deal (probably 25-28 million per) but a 4 year deal would go through his age 37 season. Too much risk IMO.

Agree on MadBum too. His peripherals have been trending down the last 2 years. Maybe he pulls a Verlander and gets better with age but 20+ million is a big bet to place on that. If your wrong on him then your paying 20+ million for 3rd starter numbers.

That makes sense. The Reds showed last year they were trying to compete when the extended Gray and then traded for Bauer. Not surprised they went big to improve their lineup. They might be a dark horse to win the NL Central.

Addison Russell also non tendered. He comes with a lot of baggage but does have experience at SS and 2B. He had a lot of promise to begin his career.

Ouch! If that’s the case then Wheeler asking price will be high...

Some serious spending going on early on some 2nd tier FA. ( y 2nd tier I mean not the top guy or two at their position). Could be interesting to see how the offseason plays out.

Does it mean AA looks at trades more than FA?
