Will the lions throw their hat in the ring?

The Dolphins are fielding offers for CB Minkah Fitzpatrick. Should the Lions make a move to pair him with Slay?

If 5 teams are interested then they're going to be able to get a good return. Not sure if the Lions will be willing to give up anything better than a 3rd round pick.

Jalen Ramsey is reportedly available as well. I'd rather wait on Jalen until free agency and see if we can entice him even if allocating all this money into the CB position might not entirely be wise. Hindsight being what it is it would make sense to trade for Fitz to fit the slot CB spot but with Coleman here it seems redundant.

Jalen could be traded this week and the Jags are asking for at least a first round pick and maybe more

    Trade for Ramsey now.

No team is going to be able to throw on Slay + Ramsey for Years...

    Possible destinations

Several teams are rumored to be interested in Ramsey, but a few teams seem to make sense for both sides involved. First up is the Detroit Lions. Head coach Matt Patricia would love to add a hard hitter like Ramsey. Adding Ramsey to Darius Slay and Justin Coleman would arguably give the Lions the best defensive secondary in the NFC. Detroit is most likely a team that would offer the Jaguars a first-round selection for Ramsey.

While the Lions are not in the top ten favorites to land Ramsey, according to Bovada sportsbook, the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys are.

Both teams are 2-0 and look strong, so adding a great player like Ramsey makes sense. The big question is, are they willing to part with a first-round pick as eagerly as the Lions could be?

To get Jalen you are giving up a high pick +salary to extend him which means you will have a lot of money tied into the CB spot and with Darius Slay hitting free agency in a few years you will have to extend him soon too. On the flipside you are getting another great man corner who can help shut down his side of the field making very difficult to pass on allowing the pass rush to get to the QB by forcing the opposition to hold on to the ball longer. Also this is a move we have wanted from the Lions for a while (take that high risk/high reward gamble and show how serious you are about winning).

Are we one player away from the championship? No doubt our defense would be vastly improved, however thatís a lot of money to put into one position. Unless they are willing to let slay leave. I want to take that chance I think most championship organizations do. I simply do not know if this move would put us over the top.

I'd love ramsey, but it would be tough to trade for him without some sort of contract extension in place.
