I have been reading that there would be in excess of $5 million.

Probably not the most reputable source but this might help.

It's COLD in Chicago, and no dome. And I'd do everything in my power to send his *** there. Got a nickel says he'd retire before taking that field.

Supposedly the Bears are shopping Mack. So, maybe no reunion.

Itís time to move on from Carr

Derek Carr has a .571 winning percentage when the defense yields 20 pts or fewer.

Why assemble talent around this guy and waste an opportunity?...

Not great, but I would like to know what was the average output for our O in those games. I'll bet we probably have one of the lower point differentials, which isn't surprising.

there is no dead money in trades. The trade transfers the contract itself and therefor the rights to the player.

The only thing that could remain is the prorated signing bonus. However with the new contract rules this is something that you can also include in the trade. So essentially you can trade the player and all of his dead money in the same deal. Here is some information if anyone is interested.

That would make the scenario $7.9M more palatable.

But $30M is still a bitter pill for me.

it would be his 2.5m prorated signing bonus this year as well as his 2.5m for next year. These however can be included in a trade deal as I mentioned above.

Either way 2.5m a year is a drop in the bucket with todays cap ceiling.

I hear you there. But as has been talked about: Brady (and picks we get for Carr trade) for 30 or Carr for 22. The extra 8m should be worth it, so the fans eyes stop bleeding on 3rd and 5+

Oh, itís better...no doubt. My only reservation is that it isnít the best solution.

$8M is a player...maybe two, for a talent starved team.

Someone is going to sign a vet QB for peanuts this offseason and get a lot out of him...happens every year. Why not us? Especially given Grudenís track record with unsexy, cerebral QBís?

Instead of sacrificing a contributing player or two, why not add them?

Tom Brady sells out the stadium and makes the Raiders a nationally relevant story. It's petty and antithetical to winning, but don't be at all surprised if the Raiders go that route for the hell of it.

Longer term, getting a younger QB to learn from Brady is the best case scenario. You don't get "2 years" - you get 2 years and then, hopefully, someone who can step in and play QB for the next 4+ seasons.

What? I thought all the pundits said we were crazy for trading the hall of famer. Were we not crazy or did he digress? Or, possibly it was a good move and now chicago thinks so too.?

As for Carr, i cant believe anyone thinks we should keep the bum. Did they not see him quit...multiple times. Do they think he will change? He'll quit the first time things get tough no matter how great our defense is and how many great WR's and linemen we have. Id trade him for a sack of potatoes and move on.

Arenít sellouts in a brand new stadium in Las Vegas a given? Genuine question...no sarcasm.

And when has Brady been inclined to groom his back-up?

Brady regressed last year... I have no clue what you would get out of him other than a **** ton of respect.. may be enough.

Wow could you imagine in the second year that Gruden May have to consider benching Brady for the next qb..? Lol

Not sure what we get with Brady. He's older, and slower. You can't rely on him scrambling or extending plays. Based on what some people here have said that we need a mobile QB like Mahomes. I have nothing but high respect for him, but not sure if he's the solution to Carr.....now that doesn't mean that I'm promoting to keep Carr. We're not a QB away from the SB, but we do need a replacement.
