Alonso is striking out a ton. Seems like he really drops his shoulders and tries to get under everything. If he levels out his swing and cuts back on the Ks....

2 games back 16 to go. I think if we don't fall back again to 3 we still have a decent enough chance. See y'all tomorrow.

Cano .317/.349/.624/.972 in the second half before today.

Maybe he still has something left.

He certainly does at the plate. That 1st half start was not what we should expect.

I will say tho...it will definitely increase his value if he transitions to third base next season.

His range has clearly diminished, but he still has the hands and arm to play well at the hot corner where range is way less important.

I think it would extend his career, as we already have a better option at second base.

If this is who we're getting over the next few years, then okay.

Well I think itís very likely to get something in between. He clearly is not as awful as he was in the first half and I donít think he will post .972 OPS either.

.825 OPS and Iíll take it.

    Yup

Just keep winning and they will make the playoffs.

Tough 3 games coming up though.

If the Mets want to be a serious playoff contender, then take 2/3 from one of the best teams in the game with their best 3 starters pitching.

They MUST take 1 game minimum. The rest of the schedule outside of the Braves (though they may be resting guys) should be relatively easy.

Nothing will be easy down the stretch and it never is.

Good teams are good teams and less good teams tend to play their ***** off to play spoiler in the final few weeks.

If the Mets want to get in, they will have to fight and claw and earn every inch of it.

And they can. So go do it.

As a Mets fan I'd rather not be facing LA right now. But as a baseball fan, these pitching matchups are outrageous. I'll be drinking meaningful September bourbon the next few days and hoping for the best.

The only way this series could be better with the way the pitching is lined up, would be if the Dodgers were fighting for a spot as we are.......
Desperate teams usually have that "little bit" of an edge over a team that......"if they happened to lose" wouldn't be such a big deal. If the Mets lose it IS a big deal, so lets use that competitive edge to our advantage. We need our "star pitchers" to perform at their highest level, because anything less would hurt their chances. There really is no more "wiggle room". 2 of 3 is a must, a sweep would be outstanding. Most importantly, play solid baseball, don't beat yourselves.
