He wasn't bad last season. You toppled yourself.

Edit: looking back at the schedule it was may when he got going. mid may. so he was better for a whole month than i have been giving him credit for.
He didn't get benched in June, and he started becoming amazing May 15th
    From May 15th-May 31st - he hit .369/.431/.692 - 200 wRC+ with 4 HR

    Your memory is failing you.

    Just saw your edit

He didn't start May 6th (was a pinch hitter)
And May 12th and 13th. He pinch hit on the 12th

    Became hot May 16th.

but he was just because he was insane from mid may to mid august doesnt mean he was good all year. he was as equally bad for the other three months of the season. he may not have been "terrible" as a whole but he didnt show up for half the year last year and he hasnt shown up at all this year.

It doesn't matter WHEN he produces in the season.

It was a 5 win season, quit looking for things to ***** about.

And he's the one that made the playoffs an outside shot. Imagine if anyone else on the team managed to help out?

Yep he played well to get us in contention then turned into an automatic out in the line up. If you can praise the good he did you should also be able to admit how horrific he was as well

    Sure.

But that's like saying hey, great, he's a 5 win player, but damnit, he's not an 8 win player.

That's what makes it an all-star season, not an MVP season.

But he helped us get a worse pick in the draft. He petered out, which it couldn't go on all season, but to completely go MIA, that killed us.

It was a blast to watch, but he hasn't been anything close to his old former self let alone his crazy stretch

I still don't understand why you are so frustrated that a guy posted a 5 win season. He helped us improve by 5 wins. When he does it in the 162 games literally doesn't matter. He could have done it all in May only and then been replacement level the rest of the year. If we didn't have Carpenter last year, we would have won 83 games instead. Most years, 88 wins makes the playoffs, but it didn't last year. And we missed the playoffs by 3 games. If Ozuna had given us a 6 win season instead of a 3 win season, we would have tied with the Rockies. Or if Martinez and Wacha would have had 4 and 2.3 win seasons, we would have tied the Rockies.

Stop blaming one guy, our best player, for the failures of the team making the playoffs. It's completely illogical. Without him, we were barely a .500 team last year.

Time to agree to disagree on this thread and close it out. We are on the Rockies series.
