    (54-46) Redsox @ Tampa Bay Rays (57-45)

Game 1: Monday July 22nd at 7:10 PM

    Eduardo Rodriguez (11-4) – (4.34 ERA)
The lefty has been strong coming out of the break, winning both of his starts while giving up three runs over 13 1/3 innings. Rodriguez has had mixed results at Tropicana Field in a small sample size, going 0-2 with a 7.11 ERA in four starts. Opponents are hitting .256 against him this season.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Jalen Beeks 5-0, 2.78 ERA

Beeks will be making his first start of the season. He started one game last season, allowing six runs over four innings.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Game 2: Tuesday July 23rd at 7:10 PM

    Chris Sale (4-9) –(4.05 ERA)
For one of the very few times this season, Sale was in complete control today. All of the strikeouts came in the first five innings. Sale then got three straight groundouts in a quick sixth to finish his day at 101 pitches. It was his 11th 10-strikeout game in 20 starts, and he improved to 4-9 with a 4.05 ERA.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Yonny Chirinos (8-5) –(3.29 ERA)
In his three starts in July, Chirinos has gone 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA, which would be his highest ERA in any month this season. He has allowed three home runs over 19 innings this month.

Game 3: Wednesday July 24th at 12:10 PM
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    David Price (7-3) –(3.16 ERA)

The 33-year-old left-hander walked one and struck out four on the night. He surrendered a pair of long balls in the game -- a three-run shot to Anthony Santander in the first inning and a two-run blast by the light-hitting Keon Broxton in the fourth. Even with this brutal outing, Price still owns a respectable 3.61 ERA and 1.20 WHIP over 92 1/3 innings on the season.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Charlie Morton (11-3) –(2.61 ERA)
In two starts against the Red Sox this season, the two-time All-Star has a 1-0 record and a 3.75 ERA over 12 innings. The Rays are 13-8 in games started by Morton this season.

I wouldn’t be all that surprised if the Sox get swept.

    Fixed that for you.

Honestly, the way they were playing coming into this series, it would not have been a huge surprise to see them get swept. Of course they're playing away (.604 WPct) instead of home (.490) so they had a decent chance. Oh, yeah, and the Rays had lost 5-of-6 coming into the series so they're not really the team that leapt to first place during the first month of the season. The kids get tired early I guess.

My concern for this team remains fairly unchanged. The SP have (generally) underperformed, putting too much stress on a relatively unproven bullpen. Cora continues to overuse his trusted arms -- Barnes was abused to the point of ineffectiveness, Hembree had his IL stint, unheralded Workman won't be far behind. Throwing Barnes in the 7th last night was a great example. Following it with a second consecutive 40+ pitch performance from Workman. Ugh, Cora isn't getting lucky with those guys as he did last year.
