    2010-11 L.A. Lakers vs 2019-20 L.A. Lakers - better championship contending roster?

Is the 2019-20 the best championship contending roster the Lakers have had since making 3 straight finals (08,09,10) and winning 2 chips (09,10) ?

2010-11 L.A. Lakers (lost Jordan Farmar, Sasha Vujacic, DJ Mbenga, Josh Powell, Adam Morrison in offseason)

(added Matt Barnes, Steve Blake, Devin Ebanks, Derrick Caracter, Joe Smith, Theo Ratliff)

    Head Coach: Phil Jackson
    Kobe Bryant
    Pau Gasol
    Andrew Bynum
    Derek Fisher
    Ron Artest
    Lamar Odom
    Luke Walton
    Shannon Brown
    Matt Barnes
    Steve Blake
    Devin Ebanks
    Derrick Caracter
    Joe Smith
    Theo Ratliff

(Swept in the 2nd round 4-0 to eventual champion Dallas Mavericks)

    2019-20 L.A. Lakers

    Head Coach: Frank Vogel
    LeBron James
    Anthony Davis
    Kyle Kuzma
    Rajon Rondo
    DeMarcus Cousins

    JaVale McGee

Yes it is. I would put this roster against the Back to Back champion Lakers...

AD vs Pau would be sick

The edge obviously goes to the current roster, because of Caruso.

Still, when I look at the 2010-2011 lineup, the one name that pops out to me is Metta. He's such a strange dude, and that freaking 3 he took is still giving me a heart attack, but he was a beast on defense even at 31 years of age. (3.2 DWS that year.)

Plus you have a still-functional Bynum to take the load off Pau in the post....

Not a gimme either way by any means.

Daaaamn 3.2 DWS in his final stages, is BEAST. Biggest X factor why we beat the Tics.

That 2010-2011 lakers squad had a lot of useless players. This years team is way deeper on paper. All we’re missing is iggy to complete this team.

This year's team looks deeper and most importantly hungrier, the 2011 team was coming from a repeat and was struggling at times cause we all know how hard it is to find motivation for a threepeat since no one done it since 2000-2001-2002.

Now if we go back to the 2009/2010 team then that team beats our current team..

There was also the fact that Kobe’s knee was ‘bone on bone’ and he wasn’t even practicing with the team in order to play all 82 games of the regular season that year. Jim Buss was at odds with Phil and wanted to feature his pet project Bynum more over Pau, also Jimbo wouldn’t make the proposed trade from the nuggets of Melo and Al Harrington to the Lakers for Bynum, Artest and a pick. And Phil was battling his diagnosis of prostate cancer during that season too.

Add to the fact that Matt Barnes got injury prone come playoff time and Steve Blake couldn’t hold Jordan Farmar’s jock strap resulted in a. 4-0 sweep of that Laker squad.

Except in 2006 (first round loss in 7 to PHX) 2007 (first round loss in 5 to PHX), 2008 (finals loss in 6 to Celdiks), and 2011 (4-0 sweep in the second round to Dallas).
