    Your Swing: AMA

So I want to somewhat resurrect this forum.

    Some background on me:
I'm a second generation PGA Professional. I work for GOLFTEC as a swing instructor. I really have a passion for helping people play better golf.

So in this thread, post videos of your swing, chip, pitch, putt. Ask questions about course management. Ask questions about the fit of clubs. And I will do my best to answer your question or give a drill to improve your swing.

    VIDEO RULES:
Place the camera at waist high. The 2 best views will be "down the line" or "side view" with the center of the frame being where your hands are and "front view" or "face on", again with your hands in the center of the frame.

Cool offer, War. I'll see if I can get a video soon. I feel good with my iron swings but I got a new driver a few weeks ago (Callaway Rogue) and all of a sudden started pulling almost everything with a hook. I also have a tendency to hit on the inside of the club face now too, which is annoying.

I got the club at Dick's Sporting Goods and the guy there helped to fit the club to me (it's my first fancy driver I've gotten). My old driver I was hitting straight around 230 yards. It was a 10 degree face not adjustable with regular flex. The Rogue is a 9 degree face with stiff flex. The guy said my spin rate was too high so this should help me. Except now 60% of my drives are mishit lol. Hopefully it just comes down to more adjustment on my part to the new club.

I'll check in on it when you get the video.

Put a quickness's education on spin. So 3 main things go into it:
1 - Angle of Attack. So is the horizontal path of your driver going down, level, or up?
2 - Dynamic Loft. All drivers have static loft (10 degrees is what it is when it's sitting), so what the loft is at impact.
3 - Speed. Faster we hit the more spin we can create.

The difference between #1 and #2 is what creates the 'spin loft'. So with your wedges that ends up really big. Driver much smaller.

Mamba, I would expect putting you on trackman that we would see a high dynamic loft and downward angle of attack. Decreasing your loft can make your spin come down, but it can also mean the face of the club flatter, which makes small mistakes bigger. Despite high spin being bad for distance, it's actually good for accuracy. I would adjust that driver to the +1/N combination to put it back to 10 degrees.

Do me a favor if you film your swing....face on, slow motion.

Yeah I adjusted the driver to +1 and N. It helped from the initial swing problems for sure. Hopefully I can make it out there this weekend and would get a chance to film it. Thanks for the feedback!

Nice idea for a thread war.

Been an avid golfer for quite a while and typically shoot in the low 80's with a high 70's and a high 80's peppered in-between. Good shoulder rotation, good swing path, pretty decent hand impact position with a small impact percentage variation. When it works, it works pretty damn good.

My issue is 100% in weight distribution. I tend to keep my weight shifted towards my back foot through impact. As you know, this causes ball spin issues along with some inaccuracy and extension issues.

I've mindfully worked on this for some time but I just can't make that brain to muscle connection. If I was able to rotate my weight better, I have no doubt that I'd be in the 70's consistently.

Any advice or techniques that you use to help your students with weight distribution during the swing?

So, took a lesson today with a top 100 PGA instructor. Most of it was pretty much meh as I get the vast majority of the golf swing mechanics. However, he said one sentence that really stuck in my head, "dig that left heel on your downswing". Bingo! I'm always on the balls of my feet, which my last instructor embedded in my head. Idiot.

Hit 3 buckets on the range after and smoked the ****ed out of them. Thanks war.

I completely missed what you had one here. My bad. Yea weight distribution to the heel works. The tendency for most people that get stuck on the balls of their feet is an inability to move to the left (as a righty) and rotate the hips, which causes the path to go outside to in. TBH I wouldn't have seen that if I didn't see video or your swing in person.
