Malcolm Brogdon, SG (RFA) -- SIGNS WITH MEMPHIS; MILWAUKEE MATCHES

Malcolm feels like he is on the verge of blossoming into a star, and he wants to sign somewhere where he can reach that potential. He appreciates that Milwaukee took a shot on him in the second round and helped develop him into a big-time player, and that might earn them a little time to get their ducks in a row in free agency.

However, if Malcolm gets a great offer that pays him handsomely and gives him an opportunity to be a featured offensive player, he might not wait around too long to sign an offer sheet. After all, if Milwaukee signs a star player and then brings back Malcolm, it could relegate him to an even lesser role. Assuming he has any say in the matter, he doesn't want to end up in a situation where he has a smaller role than what he had in Milwaukee last year.

    Memphis here,

We would like to offer you 20 mil per year with maximum raises over 4 years to come be the starting pg for us. We currently have KAT and also have Tobias Harris. We believe this trio provides the scoring/playmaking/spacing needed in todays NBA and would round the roster out with mostly defenders and floor spacers. We feel this would be a great opportunity to show the league what you have as the featured ball handler with great options in the pick and roll.

So we missed on Harris but were able to bring Lonzo in via trade. Plan now would be for you to play mostly the 2 guard and be our 2nd scoring option to Towns offensively. You will still have the ball plenty and we will still have cap to make a couple more signings in FA but if we land you would likely try and get a couple good defenders/shooters.

We now can offer the full max for 4 years, thoughts on playing with Memphis next season?

Malcom we plan on matching your max, all we ask is that you wait for JJ Reddick to sign. If fact, if you wait until then we will offer you the 5 year max with 8% raises.

You're going to get paid either way, and you're going to be a Buck. All we ask is you wait on JJ

Malcolm is signing with Memphis soon, probably tomorrow afternoon. He's not going to let a max offer sit for long, and he'll take his chances on getting another big contract at age 30 if it comes down to it.

    Hi Malcolm,

Come the Knicks. We are prepared to offer you a 4 year deal starting at $26,068,796 with 5% raises. We are building a young team who we envision contending for many years to come and we think you’d be a perfect fit.

Let us know what you think. Thanks for the time.

Malcolm signs an offer sheet with the Memphis Grizzlies. If the Knicks wanted to get involved, they should have just put the deal on the table. Milwaukee has 24 hours to match.
