Look at deGrom’s crazy ERA in 2018. He was really almost just as good in 2019, but the ball did make a difference overall. In a SSS (like 1 season), Diaz just seemed to give up too much hard contact.

I think once he lost confidence his results got worse and worse. He did look elite early in the season before his huge collapse against the Dodgers.
The ball was still juiced last year, just less so than other recent seasons. MLB (regardless of their public commentary) has been tinkering with the ball the last few years. The record for most homers in a season was set in 2017 at 6,105, then dropped a bit to 5,585. In 2019, they set a new record with 6,776.

They're calling now for "more tests," but what that really means is that they're going to correct their manufacturing a bit to take some of the pop out. There won't be seven thousand homers next year, and there may not even be six thousand. I'm hoping the insanity of 2019 (and the attempted murder of several careers, not the least of which being Edwin Diaz's) will prompt them to aim for the sub-5000 numbers they were rolling with prior to 2016.

Why did the Orioles waive Jonathan Villar? Arguably, their best player......

I saw that earlier in the day and said WTF?

Rumor was they weren’t willing to include him for Noah.

So the Mets were willing to offer Wheeler the QO but not use the same money to sign Hamels? I mean I get Hamels doesn't like New York and he probably wouldn't have signed here anyways but why not offer him a deal?

    That’s a shame, I always liked Wheeler.
