    Desperate times I guess...

I agree, the Braves bench now consist of:

    Duval/Joyce
    Ortega
    McCann/Flowers
    Hamilton
    Culberson

I assume that against RHP we are going to have Ortega/Joyce and Duval most days, so the bench will be Culby, Flowers, Ortega/Joyce and Hamilton. Not great but isn't terrible, at least it looks like the relievers we acquire in the deadline are in a good spot, so we can have one less reliever and not hurt the bench offense that much by adding Hamilton.

Can't find the tweet but I read Riley is hoping to go on a rehab assignment this week. He has been running without discomfort. Swanson also feeling better. He was seen doing on-field activities this weekend. Bowman said both are aiming to be back before the end of the month. Markakis is still at least 3 weeks away but with 6 more weeks of games left he has plenty of time to return. Having all 3 ready for the post season will be huge.

It would definitely be a big help to get Swanson & Markakis back. The lineup is definitely more vulnerable without them, as the bottom 3 or 4 spots in the order haven't been the same due to injuries.

I'm getting ahead of myself here but a potential post season roster:

    Lineup:

    Acuna CF
    Albies 2B
    Freeman 1B
    Donaldson 3B
    Markakis RF
    Swanson SS
    McCann C
    Riley LF

    Bench:

    Culberson utility
    Flowers C
    Hamilton defensive sub/pinch runner
    Duvall OF/pinch hitter
    Joyce OF/pinch hitter

    Rotation:

    Soroka RP
    Keuchel LP
    Fried LP
Folty RP - if 4th starter is needed, also in bullpen

    Bullpen:

    Melancon RP
    Greene RP
    Martin RP
    Swarzak RP
    Jackson RP
    Newk LP
    Blevins LP
    Teheran RP/Long Relief

This is basically the same set up as the 2018 roster (13 hitters/12 pitchers). I'm not counting on Ender coming back but if somehow he does I would think he takes back his job in center field. If that ends up happening then the final position spot likely comes down to Riley or Duvall. Whoever is swinging the bat better in September will make the roster. I think Hamilton will make the roster for his pinch running ability. The Braves had Lane Adams on the roster last year for the same thing but Hamilton is a much greater threat on the bases. Folty and Julio could switch spots as the 4th starter. Whoever is pitching better down the stretch will get that spot but if a 4th starter is needed those two likely end up piggy backing each other in case the other struggles early.

Feel like Snit was doing the lip service act there. Canít blame him too much though. The kid has gotten hit, what, 3 times now on the first pitch vs these guys?

And I think it gave Snit a great chance to show Acuna that he still has his back after benching him a few days ago. I would have done the same thing as Snit.

McCann pulled with knee soreness. All we need is another injury.

The Pirates and the Nats bullpen doing us a favor. Strasburg threw a gem and the Nats pen blew it. 4-1 pirates in the 8th

With McCann potentially headed to the IL we need them ASAP, for at least a week we are going to see a lineup that consist of 4 starters caliber players and 4 bench pieces besides the pitcher.

We have upcoming series against Mets, a one game against the Rockies, a series vs Blue Jays and White Sox. Overall, a really weak stretch until the end of the month, which is good. The only issue is this weekend series vs the Mets, with the offense we may show this weekend I'll be fine if we win one against them.
