    17M/season is solid for a FA day 1 signing. I thought for sure he'd get at least 20. I kinda wish we had the space to go after him.

    Big move by the Lions to shore up their defense, especially with a player they are already familiar with. Flowers should continue to excel in Detroit and be one of the elite ends in the league. But it's a lot of money for a guy who hasn't quite proved himself 100% yet so there is risk.

    There's risk, perhaps. But I think his sample size is large enough, and normally the risk in the case would be if he fits a new system. But he's going to Matt Patricia's system, so it's got to be as small of a risk as you can get in that regard. He's only 25 years old, which will make that large contract much more manageable. He's yet to hit his prime.
